Obituary for James Tate.
Atchison County Mail. 14 Dec 1894.
James Tate passed away at his home in Tarkio on Saturday, Dec. 8, 1894, after a long and painful illness. The funeral took place at the family residence on Sunday and was conducted by Rev. Brown, pastor of the First Prebyterian church at Tarkio. His remains were brought to Rock Port and interred at Elmwood Cemetary. Mr. Tate was an old citizen of this county, his father, being the first Sheriff in the county. Some two years ago, Mr. Tate was seriously injured in a railroad disaster, which he never fully recovered and which was the indirect cause of his death. He leaves a wife, three sons and three daughters.
