    He left with his younger brother Horace who went to Independence, MO, before moving to Cass Co., IA by 1862. Charles cant be found on the 1860 index anywhere, but was probably in MO also. He was still single, marrying in Cass Co., IA in 1862. They had 5 children, losing 3 in early childhood. (Family records)

    In 1880 Charles and Sarah were still in Iowa, Cass Co., although Sarah's father, sister, Emma her family had already moved on to CA. Charles must have gone there perhaps after 1890, and was in Tulare Co. by 1897-1898.

Another brother had died earlier and was also returned to Lewis, Iowa and buried by CW Baker (gg grandfather, Charles Wiley Baker). Horace and his wife, previously deceased, were also buried in Lewis, Iowa.

    Horace married Minnie Putnam Kidder 26 Oct 1858. Minnie was born 07 Sep 1838, Monticello, Aroostook Co. ME; died 21 May 1879, Lewis, Cass Co. IA. [Group Sheet]

Mary, Ida's mother placed all her Sherburne children with families in Waterboro and Ross Corner, Shapleigh, Maine, after she returned to Maine and remarried in 1879. shortly after Jacob Sherburne's death in Rockport, MA abt 1798. Ida's biologic parents were Jacob and Mary E. Thing Sherburne. Ida married Horace MacDonald of Alfred, ME Sept 26, 1896, in Waterboro, ME
