OBITUARY

Mr. Fred McGlothlin, age 64, of Davenport, Virginia passed away Saturday (July 16, 2011) at his home. Born November 22, 1946 in Venia, Virginia, he was a son of the late William Andrew and Lena Pearl Honaker McGlothlin. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1965 graduate of Council High School. He was of the Old Regular Baptist faith and a retired coal miner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Hyder McGlothlin; two sisters, Joyce Ann McGlothlin and Vinnie McGlothlin; two sisters-in-law, Martha McGlothlin and Lula Bell McGlothlin and one brother-in-law, June Ball.

Survivors include his wife of forty years, Betty Jo McGlothlin of the home; one daughter, Crystal Gale McGlothlin of Abingdon, Virginia; six brothers, Rean McGlothlin and wife, Faye and Hadley McGlothlin and wife, Beulah both of Fletcher's Ridge; Wayne McGlothlin of Drill, Virginia; Memphis McGlothlin and wife, Judy, Dallas McGlothlin and wife, Lizzie and Carlos McGlothlin all of Honaker, Virginia; two sisters, Dollie Compton and husband, Eugene of Lebanon, Virginia and Martha Ball of Big A Mountain, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Sue McGlothlin of Honaker, Virginia and Jerlene McGlothlin of Fletcher's Ridge, Virginia; several nieces and nephews and three special dogs, Gyppy, Diamond and Jack that Fred loved so much also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jim O'Quinn, Elder Jim Duty, Elder Roger Rose and Elder Bobby Rose officiating. Interment will follow in the McGlothlin Cemetery on Fletcher's Ridge.

Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Layne, Larry Layne, James Breeding, Gene Helbert, Kevin McGlothlin and Ransom Breeding.

Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Tuesday where a song service will be held at 7 PM.
