OBITUARY
Perus Alden Green (P.A.), Jr. born May 12, 1923 in Tatesville, TN died November 4, 2009 in Dunlap, TN.
He was preceded in death by wife Aleen Kennedy Green; parents Perus Alden Green, Sr. and Mary Blanche Minton Green; siblings: Robert Greene, Bruce Greene, Jesse (Peck) Green, Grace Green Frassrand, Howard Greene, Elizabeth Green Lynn, Joe Dillon Green, Berta Ruth Green Long, and two infant sons, Larry and Joseph.
P.A. is survived by daughter Linda Green (D.J.) Johnson, Dunlap, TN; grandchildren: Nate Johnson, Starkville, MS; Sara Grace Johnson (Brad) Carter, Nashville, TN; sisters: Johnnie Sue Morgan; Wanda June Henry, and nieces and nephews too numerous to list.
P.A. was born at home and educated in Grundy and Sequatchie counties in Tennessee. He entered Civilian Conservation Corps as a teenager and later served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army tank corps.
After receiving a medical discharge, he worked for a time in the military industry in Detroit, MI where he met and married Aleen Kennedy of Lawrenceville, GA. After frequent moves, the family settled in Atlanta where P.A. owned and operated several Standard/Chevron Oil service stations.
He was initiated, passed, and raised a Master Mason in E. A. Minor Lodge in Lithonia, GA and served as Past Master, various chairs, and ultimately Past Master and Director of Work. He was in the York Right and Knights Templar and served as a Rainbow adviser. He semi-retired in 1987 and returned with Aleen to the home for which he had always longed, Dunlap, TN. He surveyed part time with Gene Reed (at age 72), and retired completely in 1995.
In Dunlap, TN, P.A. immersed himself in civic organizations such as the VFW, American Legion, and Dunlap Lodge #693.
He was an avid gardener and watched the Braves with religious fervor. He was a member, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Dunlap First Baptist. He read to children at Griffith Elementary School, receiving the Hero of the Year award there in 2007. P.A. was a friend to all.
His generosity is legendary. He often befriended those who were less fortunate. In his later years he enjoyed his small Fredonia Mountain orchard and garden, Green Acres. He enjoyed passing on lessons in gardening, lessons in living and produce from the farm. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Services will be 10:00 am CST in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in Gwinnett Memorial Park, Atlanta, GA.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. EST Saturday November 7, 2009 at the Wages Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, GA.
