    James Wardwell (J.W.) Bare, 92, of Lexington, died Thursday, August 2, 2012, at his home. Born September 3, 1919, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Ernest Newton Bare and Cottie Whitmore Bare.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline Dunlap Bare. J.W. was a member of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church, and drove for Rockbridge County Schools for several years. Surviving are one sister, Bessie Bare Woolf of Winchester; one nephew, Lee Woolf and wife, Gwen, of Fredericksburg; one niece, Kathy Bowers, of Winchester; great-niece, Stacy Baggett and husband, David; great-great-nephew, Cailen Baggett; great-great-niece, Ainslee Baggett.

    A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2012, at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with the Dr. Thomas Harvey officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

    In lieu of flowers, Mr. Bare requested that memorial contributions may be made to Manly Memorial Baptist Church or to a charity of your choice.
