OBITUARY

STERRETT, SARAH BARBARA ARNOLD, affectionately known to her family and friends as "Meme" died Sunday, October 3, 1993 at the age of 91.

Mrs. Sterrett was born November 12, 1901 in Palmetto, Georgia to Thomas E. Arnold and Cora Virginia Ballard Arnold. She had resided in Houston since 1949. Mrs. Sterrett was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Houston and retired from Sakowitz Department Store after 11 years of service.

Preceded in death by her husband, Thornton W. Sterrett and her daughters, Barbara Sterrett Davis and Mary Lewis Sterrett Vandervoort, she is survived by her sister, Christina Burghard of Bellaire, Fla.; grandchildren, Ebby Davis Reeves and husband, Dave Reeves, John Lawson Davis, Merry Davis Sasser, all of Houston, and Ann Randolph Vandervoort, Rockport, Texas; great-grandchildren, John Wallace Keyburn, Travis and Cameron Reeves, Allison and Lauren Davis and Meryl and Rebecca Sasser. She is also survived by her special family, Naomi Burton and her children and grandchildren.

Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 1993 in the Settegast-Kopf Drawing Room. Graveside services will be held at 11;30 a.m., Wednesday, October 6, 1993 at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery with the Rev. Randall W. Trego, officiating.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Arthur S. Vandervoort, III, Forrest Goodhue, Herman Burroughs and Sterling Powell. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice. Family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and nurses at Continue Care.

BARBARA STERRETT DAVIS (MRS. WALLACE M. DAVIS, JR. of Houston died July 19, 1983. Mrs. Davis was born in Greenville, South Carolina, January 9, 1927. She was a member of St. John The Divine Episcopal Church, attended Mary Baldwin College and DePauw University, and member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, member of The Junior League of Houston, and past member of the Junior League of new Orleans and Dalles.

Survivors, Husband, Wallace M. Davis, Jr., mother, Barbara Sterrett, daughters, and son-in-law, Eleanor Davis and James Davis Reeves, Mary Davis and Steven Charles Sasser, son, John Lawson Davis, all of Houston, niece Randy Vandervoort Goodhue, Beaumont, Texas, grandson, Travis Michael Reeves, Houston.
