    OBITUARY

    Journal Star (Peoria, IL); 17 April 17 1994

    EAST PEORIA -- Lory I. Giddens, 74, of Far Hills died at 10:59 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 1994, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

    Born Oct. 9, 1919, in Eldon, Mo., to Oral and Sally Edwards Giddens, he married Margaret W. Sarff on Jan. 14, 1941, in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives.

    Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Sandra) Tripp of Peoria; one son, Curtis Lory of Peoria; three brothers, Almon of Houston, Mo., Richard of Kansas City, Kan., and Jerry of Parsons, Kan.; two sisters, Mary Whitaker and Jo Ann Risley, both of Kansas City, Kan.; and three grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

    He was a manager of installation and training in the manufacturing systems in the general offices of Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1978. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the Creve Coeur Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

    He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria and its J.O.Y. Class. He also was a member of Caterpillar Retirees Club, where he served as former treasurer, and Caterpillar Time Keepers Club.

    Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at his church. The Rev. Dr.

    John H. Stanley will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

    Monday at Cumerford-Endsley Memorial Home in Peoria. Burial will be in Snicarte Cemetery in Bath. Richard S. Wilton, funeral director through Cumerford-Endsley, is in charge of arrangements.

    Memorials may be made to his church or to West Bluff Christian Church in West Peoria or to Germantown Hills Rescue Squad.

    PEORIA - Curtis Lory Giddens, 67, of Peoria passed away Friday, May 23, 2014, at his residence.

    He was born Jan. 23, 1947, in Peoria to Lory I. and Margaret (Sarff) Giddens. He was married to Anne (Hoehne) Giddens. She survives.

    Also surviving are his mother; his sister, Sandra Tripp of Peoria; daughter, Laurie (Paul) Larsen of Dunlap; son, Robert (Tara) Giddens of Bartonville; daughter, Julie (Dan) Fitzpatrick of Singapore; two stepdaughters, Teresa (Ali) Amer of Dubai and Stephanie (Randy) Shults of Pekin; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

    Curtis graduated from Peoria Central High School and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Curtis retired from Caterpillar in 2002, after 38 years of service. His passions were golf and fishing and he always lit up a room with his sense of humor.

    Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Davis-Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 N. University St., in Peoria. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria, following the service.

    Memorials may be directed to The American Heart Association, The Peoria Cancer Center and the Limestone Fire Department.
