    Albert Duke Littlejohn

    May 16, 1927 - August 29, 2013

    Mr. A. D. "Buck" Littlejohn, Jr. age 86, of Rome, GA, died at a local health care facility Thursday morning, August 29, 2013.

    Mr. Littlejohn was born in the old McCall Hospital of Rome May 16, 1927. He was the son of the late Albert and Sarah Littlejohn. He was also preceded in death by a daughter; Anne Lindsey Littlejohn, and one sister; Martha "Polly" Littlejohn Merlau.

    Mr. Littlejohn graduated from Darlington School, attended the Merchant Marine Academy in Great Neck, Long Island, served as a Merchant Marine, continued his education, and graduated from Georgia Tech. Upon graduation he immediately began his 36 year career with the Pure Oil and Unocal Companies as a Manager of Marketing Relations. This career took Buck and his family from Atlanta and Griffin, GA to Charlotte, NC, Richmond, VA, Columbus, Oh, Chicago, IL, and finally back to Rome where he built his dream home on Mt. Alto. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. His retirement years were filled with woodworking, yard work and golf.

    Survivors include his wife of 62 years; Norma Lindsey Littlejohn, one son A. Duke Littlejohn, III and his wife Esther of Houston, TX., one granddaughter; Alarah Littlejohn of Plano, TX, one step-granddaughter; Kylie Sciortino and her husband Jon, and two step-great-grandson's; Joseph and Jasper Sciortino of Houston, TX.

    In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church's Capital Fund, 101 East 4th Ave Rome, GA. 30161 or Georgia Tech's Roll Call, 190 N. Ave. N.W Atlanta, GA. 30313 marked in memory of A. D. Littlejohn, Jr.

    A memorial service was held Tuesday September 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of St. Peter's Episcopal Church with Rev. John Herring and Rev. Don Black officiating. Following the memorial service Mr. Littlejohn's ashes were placed in the memory garden of St. Peter's. The family then received friends at St. Peter's Daniel Hall located in the back of the church.

    Daniel's Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements for Mr. A. D. "Buck" Littlejohn, Jr.
