Virginia Dixon Heard, 82, of Albany died on Thursday June 5, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday June 7, 2014 at Faith Baptist Church with interment to follow in Floral Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Heard was born on July 22, 1931 in Bridgeboro to the late Hoyt D. and Lillie Bius Duke. She was a homemaker who had lived in Albany since 1956. Mrs. Heard was an avid bowler who enjoyed crossword puzzles and crochet. Mrs. Heard was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a member of the W.M.U.

Survivors include her husband, Samuel "Bud" Heard of Albany; daughters, Ann Lindsey (Jim) of Lumber City, Cindy LaMar (Jerry) of Sylvester; son, Robert "R.D." Dixon (Dorothy)of Worth County; 12 grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers, Harold Duke of Albany, Johnny Duke of Shellman, David Duke of Sylvester; sister, Jean Walters of Sylvester.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday June 6, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home.

Mrs. Heard was preceded in death by her first husband, John C. Dixon Jr. and a daughter, Rosa Margaret Ross.

ALBANY ? The funeral service of Eleanor Joyce Duke Riley, 68, of Albany who died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, will be conducted today at 1 p.m. at Amazing Grace Baptist Church. Dr. Ronald R. Baxley will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens.

A native of Worth County, Mrs. Riley had resided in Albany most of her life. She was a child care provider out of her home for many years and a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyet and Lillie Bius Duke and a brother, Ralph Duke.

Survivors include her husband, William R. Riley of Albany; a son, Bill Riley of Albany; two daughters and their husbands, Lisa and Russell Brown of Albany and Elaine and Michael Walters of Mondovi, Wisc.; four brothers and their wives, James and Annette Duke of Sylvester, David and Gina Duke of Albany, Harold and Pauline Duke of Albany and John and Patricia Duke of Shellman; a sister, Virginia Dixon of Albany; a sister and her husband, Jean and Ralph Walters of Albany; six grandchildren, Jeremy Brown, Rebecca Brown, Lance Brown, B.J. Bendzen, Katelyn Walters, Samantha Walters; two great-grandchildren, Colten and Cailey and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the residence of Maggie Ross, 1812 Samford Avenue, Albany, GA.
