OBITUARY
Chanute, KS; 22 June 2009
Kenneth Grayson Swaney, 81, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul, Kansas.
Kenneth was born in Chanute, Kansas, on January 28, 1928, the son of Orval Kenneth and Hattie Olive (Grayson) Swaney.
He attended Chanute schools.
He served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Anne Price on October 16, 1949 in Augsburg, Germany. She preceded him in death.
He later married Mary Joan "Jo" Goyette on May 19, 1962 in Miami, Oklahoma. She also preceded him in death.
He was the owner of Swaney's Auto Service.
He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Roberts and husband Mike, Kathy Muller and husband Pat, and Carole Swaney; four grandchildren, Alice Frizzell and husband Justin, Mary Roberts, Matthew Muller, and Tyler Muller; one great-granddaughter, Grayson Frizzell; two sisters, Thelma Asher, and Melva Hudson and husband Tom; one brother, Bill Swaney and wife Cora; and sister-in-law Marlene Swaney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Anne and his wife Mary Joan; an infant son, Kenneth Swaney Jr.; and a brother, Orval Kieth Swaney.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute, KS. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Chanute Relay for Life, or to the Cherry Street Youth Center, and may be left with the funeral home.
Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

CAROLE ANNE SWANEY, 64, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 at her home.
Born on April 24, 1950 in Muenchen, Germany, she was one of four children born to Kenneth Grayson and Anne (Price) Swaney. She resided at the State Hospital in Parsons, Kansas from 1958 to 1970. She then resided at the St. Paul Manor in St. Paul Kansas. In 1992, Carole moved to the Focus Developmental Center in Winfield where she lived until 1998 and the moved to Southwind where she has resided since.
Carole loved arts and crafts and spending time with her friends and caregivers.
Her family includes: Her sisters: Kathy Muller of Brothell, WA; and Barbara Roberts of Soddy Daisy, TN; Her nieces and nephews and her caregivers and guardians at Southwind. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Kenneth Grayson Swaney, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 11, 2014 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Carole will be laid to rest at a later date in Greensboro, North Carolina.
