MERRIMAC ? Evelyn G. (Trafton) Chase, 74, Merrimac resident for the past 15 years, died Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. She was the wife of the late Edward Chase.
Born in York, Maine, Dec. 30, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Gertrude (Heath) Trafton and was a graduate of York High School, Class of 1952. Mrs. Chase had worked as a claims examiner for Prudential Insurance Company in their Boston office until they closed that facility.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing puzzles and was an avid animal lover and supporter of various animal organizations.
Her survivors include her sisters, Betty Walker and husband Colston of Shalimar, Fla.; Barbara Trafton of Kernersville, N.C.; Eileen Hanson and husband Lloyd of Eliot, Maine; her brother, Ernest Trafton and wife Pamela of Cape Neddick, Maine; as well as several nieces, nephews, dear friends and her beloved cat, Rusty. She was predeceased by her nephew, Gene Hanson.
A graveside service for relatives and friends will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac. By request of the family, there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to an animal shelter of the donor's choice. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main St., Merrimac.
