OBITUARY
RUTH FLORENCE ASBURY HAGERMAN RIFE, 100 years of age of Damascus, VA, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010 at her home following an extended illness. Born in McDowell County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cosby Jewell Asbury. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life and was of the Old Regular Baptist Church faith. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, great-great-great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Rife was preceded in death by her first husband: Pastor Carl Hagerman and her second husband: Drewey Rife.
She is survived by 4-Daughters: Madge and husband Mack Justus, Hurley, VA, Theodosia Joyce Barfield, Suisun, CA, Phyllis Joan and husband Dan Siler, Dayton, OH, Bertha Ann and husband Bill Jones, Kernersville, NC, 4-Sons: Emory Hugh Hagerman, Defiance, OH, Douglas MacArthur Hagerman, Defiance, OH, Roger Carl and wife Betty Hagerman, Damascus, VA, Russell and wife Carolyn Hagerman, Paulding, OH
Also, survived by 30-Grandchildren, 73-Great-Grandchildren, 47-Great-Great-Grandchildren, 1-Great-Great-Great-Grandchild, and several Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by 3-Sisters: Molly Gregory, Alley Hagy and Myrtle Mullins; 1-Half-Sister: Alvinie Smith; 4-Brothers: Burl, Cleve, Bill and John Asbury; and 1-Half-Brother: Jessie Hall.
Funeral Service for RUTH FLORENCE ASBURY HAGERMAN RIFE will be conducted Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Paul Dotson officiating with burial to follow in Tom Sparks Cemetery, Paynesville, WV.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons.
