Oceana N. Janutolo

Oceana Neel Janutolo, 89, formerly from the Brushfork-Falls Mills Rd., died Oct. 16 at the Maples in Bluefield.

Born in Nemours, she was a daughter of the late David H. Neel and Martha Jane Lawson Neel. She was a member of the Brushfork First Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Raymond Janutolo; one daughter, Barbara Jones; five brothers, Julian, Dave, Watson, Daniel and Charlie Neel; and one sister, Martha Hendrick.

Survivors: son, Carl E. Janutolo of Brushfork-Falls Mills Rd.; daughters, Janie Jones and husband, Richard, of Falls Mills, Louise McVey and husband, Darrell, of Brushfork-Falls Mills Rd.; brother, William (Bill) R. William Roger Neel

NEEL William Roger Neel, 88, Westerville, OH, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 5, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born in Nemours, WV on May 30, 1923, to David H. and Martha (Lawson) Neel, and is preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, who never left his side, Frances L. (Sawyers) Neel; daughters, Lisa (Sandy Tippie) Neel and Kelly (Danny) Brown; son, Michael (Linda) Neel; grandchildren, Michelle, Stephanie, Jason, Melisa, Melissa, James, Robert, Nick; 17 great-grand-children and one great-great-grand-child on the way; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service on Friday, September 9, 2011, 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

BLUEFIELD, VA. ?John McCray Coon, Sr., 85, of Westwood, Bluefield, Va., died Thursday, October 7, 1993, in a Bluefield Hospital.

Born March 19, 1908, in Bluefield, Va., he was a son of the late Thomas P. and Lorene Neel Coon. He was retired from Fairmont Foods in Bluefield, Va. and a member of the Calvary Baptist Chapel in North Tazewell, VA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Trula Lawrence Coon; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Margaret) Wilson; one brother, T.P. Coon and two sisters, Mrs. Dan (Flora) Slade and Mrs. Robert (Wanego) Patton.

Survivors: sons, John M. Coon, Jr. and Ronald Lee Coon, both of Tazewell and James E. Coon of Abingdon, Va.; daughters, Mrs. Charles (Laura) Godsey of Prince George, Va., Phyllis Pruett of Bluefield and Brenda Coon of Granite Falls, N.C.; brother, Jack Coon of Princeton; sisters, Mrs. William (Lena) Bowles, Mrs. Nell Fulcher and Mrs. Wally (Lorene) Rangeo, all of Bluefield, Va., and Mrs. Bill (Lucille) Reynolds of Princeton; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Calvary Baptist Chapel in North Tazewell with the Rev. Chuck Trent officiating.

Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road.

Fannie J. Hawks

BLUEFIELD Fannie J. Hawks, 80, of Route 4 Box 65-B, Bluefield (formerly of Chesapeake, Va.), went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Bluefield.

Born on May 20, 1926 in Bluefield to the late Joseph Watson Neal and Brenda Victoria Perdue Neal, she was a member of the First Church of God in Princeton.

In addition to her parents, one sister, Cleo Mathena and three brothers, Jesse Neal, Bill Neal and Herbert Neal, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years: Jesse C. Hawks of Bluefield; brothers: Joe Neal of Havana, Ohio and Frank Neal of Morgantown, Ind.; sisters: Clara Lovelace of Greenville, S.C., Pauline Burton of Bluefield, Evelyn Caudill of Princeton, Frances Owens of Chesterfield, Va. and Kathlene Sellers of Tampa, Fla.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at the First Church of God, 301 Mahood Ave., Princeton, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Charles Shrewsbury officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Friends and family may call at the First Church of God, 301 Mahood Ave., Princeton, today, July 10, 2006 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Nephews will be serving as pallbearers for Mrs. Hawks.

Joseph W. "Papa Joe" Neal Joseph W. "Papa Joe" Neal 78, of Ravenna passed away Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Robinson Memorial Hospital.

Born May 21, 1928, in Bluefield, W. VA. to Joseph W. & Jennie (Purdue) Neal, he had lived in Ravenna since 1954. He served in the US Army and was a member of the Ravenna Assembly of God Church. He had worked as a truck mechanic for Cook's Food Service.

Survived by his wife Annie (Jones) & children Don (Sharon) Neal of Kent, Rick (Renee) Neal of Ravenna, Vicki (Ron) Smith of Ravenna, 5 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. Pauline Richardson Burton, 79, of Ovenbird Circle (Quail Valley) Princeton died Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Glenwood Retirement Village.

Born March 3, 1932 in Bluefield, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Watson Neal and Brenda Victoria Perdue Neal. Pauline was educated in Mercer County and was a registered CNA. For 15 years, she served as a Hostess for the Holiday Inn of Bluefield and later in life, was a caregiver to many senior citizens. Pauline was a member of Fairview Christian Community Church and was devoted to her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandchildren; Matthew & Stevie along with 9 siblings: Cleo, Clara, Fannie, Joe, Gus, Frank, Hub, Evelyn, and Bill.

She will be lovingly remembered by her 8 children and their spouses. Linda Baldwin, Joann& Jody Neal, Kathy & Mike Perdue, Billy & Lynn Richardson, Paula & Steve Burkhart all of Bluefield, Judith & Randy Neal of Atlanta GA, Tamera & Rick Roberts of Holly Springs NC and Gene & Bonnie Taylor of Winston Salem NC. 14 Grandchildren, Austin, Danay, Joey, Angela, John, Cheri, Amber, Aubrey, Timothy, Amy, Tara, Haley, Andrew & Kayla. 18 Great Grandchildren. Two Sisters, Katherine Neal & Francis Owens. A host of nieces and nephews.

Sidney W. Neel, 74, of Martinsburg, died Friday, May 5, 2006, in City Hospital.

Born March 1, 1932, in Yards, Va., he was the son of the late Julian Neel and Elizabeth Neel Baumgardner.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne Division, retired form E. I. DuPont and assisted with Ramon's Catering.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Men's Class.

Mr. Neel was an active member and Past Master of Robert White Lodge #67, A.F. and A.M. and ancillary groups including York and Scottish Rite.

He is Survived by his wife, Catherine Lowe Neel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christy N. and Frank T. Polak and Susan N. and Bruce, Jr., Butler, all of Martinsburg; one grandson, Jordan M. Polak; two step-grandchildren, Beth Ann and Trey Butler; one sister, Patricia A. Breheim and husband, Gene of Chesapeake, Va., and a niece, Krista Marcelo.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 9 at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth J. Fizer officiating. Masonic graveside services will be held at Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Ct., Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Jackie Lee Neal, Sr.

NARROWS, Va. ? Jackie Lee Neal, Sr., 72 of Narrows, Va., passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 21st, 2010 at his home on Stockpen Mountain.

He was born in Bluefield, W.Va. on September 24th, 1937 and was the son of the late Gussie Lee Neal and Vivian Ellen McGhee Price. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Rhetta Mae Robertson Neal; a daughter, Karen Alicia Neal; a sister, Irene Johnson; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Known best to his friends and family as ?Shorty,? Jackie was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with over 35 years service. He also served in the United States Army from 1958 until 1962. But he?ll best be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, and one who never met a stranger. He?ll be dearly missed by his loved ones, friends at Burger King and Food Time in Narrows, and teachers and staff at Narrows Elementary/Middle School.

Left to cherish his memory are a son, Jackie Lee Neal, Jr. and wife Alicia of Peterstown; three daughters, Kristi and Barry McGuyer, Lori Neal and Jimmy Cornwell, and Ashley and Jason Robertson, all of Narrows; seven grandchildren, Tyler and Abbi McGuyer of Narrows, Kalyn and Landon Neal of Peterstown, and Zachery, Jacob and Brody Robertson, all of Narrows; a brother, Billy Neal of Pearisburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends, including very special friends, Barbara ?Grammy? Ball of Peterstown, and the girls, Barbara and Carol.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 24th, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Riffe?s Funeral Service in Narrows with Donald Henegar, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows with graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Posts #68 of Narrows, #311 of Pembroke and #145 of Peterstown.
