MURPHY: Mrs. Frances Aline Murphy of Decatur, died Saturday. She is survived by her husband Mr. James Kenneth Murphy, Decatur, three sons, Mr. Michael K. Murphy, Atlanta, Mr. Patrick Murphy, Chamblee, Mr. David Murphy, Decatur; three daughters, Mrs. Sharon Rogers, Covington, Mrs. Mary Glyn Weyant, Chamblee, Mrs. Kathleen Webb, Columbia, S.C.; brother, Mr. Joseph T. Putnal, Atlanta, sister, Mrs. Glyn Spencer, Atlanta, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel. Those desiring may send contributions to the American Cancer Society, 2936 North Druid Hills Rd., N.E., Atlanta, GA 30329. A.S. Turner & Sons. Rev. Steve Land will officiate.

Frances married James Kenneth Murphy. James (son of Vinton Hubert Murphy and Alma DUKE) was born 06 Mar 1917, Grove Hill, Clarke Co. AL; died 17 Aug 1991, Newton Co. GA; was buried , Cremated, ashes scattered. [Group Sheet]

Michael Kenneth Murphy, Age 63 of Fairfax Station, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010.

Beloved husband of Shelley Smith Murphy; Devoted father of Michael B. Murphy of Panama City, FL.; Azamat M. Murphy, Dana M. Murphy and Dina M. Murphy of Fairfax Station, VA.; Loving brother of Patrick (Jackye) Murphy of Hartwell, GA.; Sharon (Frank) Rogers of Loganville, GA.; Mary Glyn (Terry) Weyant of Wynnewood, PA and Kathleen (Sam) Webb of Duluth, GA.; Adoring grandfather of Brandon, Patrick and Chase Murphy of Panama City, FL. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Michael was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1947 to Frances Aline and James Kenneth Murphy.

He attended Hooper Alexander Elementary in Decatur, Georgia and was a 1965 Graduate of Avondale High School in Avondale Estates, GA.

Michael served in the Air Force for six years and began working for IBM following his discharge.

After moving to Seattle, WA to marry Shelley, he left a 22-year career with IBM to pursue his dream of being a teacher. He began teaching in 1996. In 2002, he moved with Shelley to Fairfax Station, VA and began teaching at Bonnie Brae Elementary, and most recently at Lorton Station Elementary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association , 7203 Poplar Street, Annandale, VA 22003

Atlanta Journal-Constitution, November 21, 2008:

David Spencer Murphy, age 49 of Decatur, Georgia, passed away Wednesday the 8th of October. David grew up in Decatur with his 5 sibling attending Hooper Alexander Elementary School and Avondale High School.

David was preceded in death by his parents, James Kenneth Murphy and Frances Aline Murphy. David is survived by two brothers, Michael and Patrick Murphy and three sisters, Sharon Murphy Rogers, Mary Glyn Murphy Weyant, and Kathleen Murphy Webb.

Following cremation, there will be a small family service. Our brother is at peace and, for that, we are grateful. Our family greatly appreciates the expressions of love and caring from so many dear friends.
