OBITUARY

McMinnville resident and Sequatchie County, TN native Bonnie Lee Seals, age 86, was born August 3, 1920 and died December 5, 2006 at Raintree Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.

A retired waitress and factory worker and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Martin Luther and Delilah Smith Tate. She was married to Milton Seals who preceded her in death in 1971.

She is survived by four children and their spouses, Evelyn Elizabeth Mourlas of Chicago, IL, Everett and Gayla Seals and Doris and Connie Roberts both of McMinnville and Michael and Annette Seals of Soddy Daisy, TN; eight grandchildren, Lucy Coteus of Chicago, IL, Anita Powers and Sherry Moore both of McMinnville, Randy Seals of North Carolina, Renee Hancock and Misty Wright both of Viola, TN, Peter Mourlas of Chicago, IL and Amanda Seals of Hixson, TN; fourteen great-grandchildren and three brothers, Vince, Alden and Dexter Tate all of Dunlap, TN.

Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2006 in High's Chapel with Kevin Clark officiating. Burial followed in the Fawn Lake Cemetery.

Aulden Bennett Tate, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, after a lingering illness. Mr. Tate was a member of Way Of The Cross Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and was a member of American Legion. He retired from Owens Illinois, Atlanta, GA. in 1991.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Viva Loyd Green Tate; daughter, Pam Thomas; sisters, Pearl Minton, Virgie Land, Iva Harmon, Bonnie Seals; brothers, Vince Tate, Quay Tate.

Survivors include wife, Margie Teeters Elliott Tate, Dunlap; son, Brian (Pam) Tate, McDonough, Ga.; daughters, Beverly Taylor, Morrow, Ga., Glenda (Rickey) Arp, Norcross, Ga.; stepsons, Rodney (Ruby) Elliott, Dunlap, Steve (Patti) Elliott, Whitwell, brother, Dexter (Juanita) Tate, Dunlap; grandchildren, Brandon Tate, Brianna Tate, Stephanie Arp, Eric Arp, Nola Arp, Nichole Taylor; several nieces and nephews.

Longtime prominent Dunlap business owner, Dexter Martin Tate, 85, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Manor House Assisted Living Center in Chattanooga.

Since 1958, Mr. Tate and wife, Juanita, operated numerous businesses in Dunlap, including Tates Super Market, City Motors, Tate Chrysler-Plymouth & Dodge, and Dunlap Restaurant. He was a Life Member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, member and chairman of the Sequatchie County School Board for 18 years, veteran of the Korean Conflict, was instrumental in the development of Sequatchie Haven Senior Apartments, and was active in various civic and community endeavors. He was a member of the Mount Pleasant Congregational Methodist Church in the Cagle Community.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Donna Cheryl Tate; parents, Luther and Delilah Smith Tate, of the Cagle Community; brothers, Vince Tate, Quay Tate and Alden Tate of Dunlap; sisters, Bonnie Seals and Virgie Land, of McMinnville; Iva Harmon and Pearl Minton, of Dunlap; and son-in-law, Mark McGuire, of Mexia, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Juanita Whitlow Tate; children, Valerie McGuire of Mexia, Texas; Angela Cook and husband, Randy, of Laurel, Miss.; and Marty Tate and wife, Brandy, of Dunlap; 13 grandchildren, Ashley McGuire Cargile and husband, Marty, of Mexia, Texas; Jessica Cook Stroo and husband, Casey; Tyler Cook and wife, Megan; and Zachary Cook, all of Laurel, Miss.; Jaimie, Joshua, Jonathan, Jacob, Jesse, Rebekah, Timothy, Jackson, and Anna Tate of Dunlap; three great-grandchildren, Aaden Cargile, Kendall Cargile and Lettie Stroo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. CST Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, in the Ewton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Feazell and Rev. Howell Whited officiating. Burial will be in Cagle Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Tyler Cook, Zachary Cook, Joshua Tate, Clifford Land, Burnard Tate, and Lewis Land will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. CST today.

OBITUARY

McMinnville resident and Cagle, TN native Everett Randall Seals, age 71, was born October 2, 1941 and died January 19, 2013 at River Park Hospital following a prolonged illness.

A retired employee of Calsonic, a United States Army veteran and a member of Grace Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Milton Cobert and Bonnie Lee Tate Seals.

He was married August 31, 1987 to Gayla Clark Seals of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Everett Randall and Leah Seals, Jr. of Trourman, NC, Renee and Greg Hancock of Viola, TN and Misty Renee Wright of McMinnville; seven grandchildren; one brother, Michael David Seals of Trenton, GA; two sisters, Doris Roberts of McMinnville and Evelyn Mourlas of Arlington Heights, IL; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in High's Chapel with Michael Seals officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Highs's.

OBITUARY

Doris Seals Roberts, age 71, a McMinnville, TN resident and Cagle, TN native died November 28, 2015 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was a waitress at Shoney's and the VFW, member of the Baptist Church and daughter of the late Milton Cobert and Bonnie Lee Tate Seals.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Connie David Roberts; grandson, Brandon David Steakley and brother, Evertt Randall Seals.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by daughters, Anita Powers and Sherry Moore both of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Chandi Nunley, Brandi McCormick, Brady Powers and Nikki Moore all of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Kacen and Kelby Nunley and brothers, Michael David Seals of Georgia and Evelyn Mourlas of Illinois.

Graveside service and interment will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2015 in Fawn Lake Cemetery with Mike Seals to officiate.
