In this course, the death of one of the complainants, J. J. Tate, was suggested and admitted in open court, and it being admitted in open court that Elizabeth Tate, F. M. Tate, R. D. Tate, J. S. Tate, E. M. Tate, W. M. Tate, J. A. Tate, Mary Creighton, and V. L. Tate as the children, and Agness Boyd, Fannie Nunley, Mary Northcutt and Lucy Northcutt are the grandchildren and only heirs at law of the said J. J. Tate, deceased and Frank Boyd is the husband of Agness Boyd and John Creighton is the husband of Mary Creighton and J. J. Nunley is the husband of Fannie Nunley, on motion of K. P. Pearson, solicitor of complainant, this suit is filed in the name of the above mentioned parties as heirs at law of the said J. J. Shortly after he and Hattie married they moved to Thurber, Erath Co. TX. Coal was discovered in the extreme northwestern part this county. It became the leading coal-producing area of the state by the end of the century, supplying coal for the Texas & Pacific Railway Company's locomotives. The mines closed in 1888 when the company could not meet its payroll obligations, but reopened when a New York grocer and investor, H. K. Thurber, brought in an infusion of cash.

Thurber was completely a company town. Only company employees and their families, schoolteachers and members of the clergy could live there. Since the company owned everything in town, there were no taxes. There was no city government, and the mining company paid for law enforcement, furnished the school building and supplemented state and county funds for teachers and school operating costs.

There were nearly 20 different nationalities or racial groups represented, including Italian, Polish, English, German, Austrian, Irish, Chinese and black, living in the town.

After years of labor agitation, the United Mine Workers organized d Thurber's miners in 1903. The strikes and strife may have been the reason John and Hattie left.

John and Hattie's five oldest children were born in Thurber.

DOUBLE CRIME IN GRUNDY..STOKES TATE KILLS WIFE WITH RIFLE THEN TURNS IT ON SELF
Stoker Tate, 25, shot and killed his wife, Frances Tate, 33, at their home today and then turned the .22 caliber rifle on himself and inflicted a fatal wound. Acting Coroner Henry Meyers returned a verdict of murder and suicide. Cause of Tate's action was not determined immediately. He had been a WPA worker in Grundy County, but had not been working lately. Deputies Jim McGovern and Oscar Price, and the coroner investigated. Five children survive the Tates. Funeral services will be held here tomorrow."

Beersheba Man kills Wife, Then Suicides

Stokes Tate, 25, Beersheba, former WPA employee, shot and killed his 33 year old wife, Tuesday with a 22-calibre rifle, then took his own life with the same weapon, according to the report of officers of that county. The shooting occurred at the Tate home in the presence of Mrs. Tate's five young children by a former marriage. A Coroner's verdict was murder and suicide.

Albert Tate, 75 Dies At Tarlton; Rites Thursday

Albert Franklin Tate, 75-year-old retired farmer, died at the home of his brother, Joe B. Tate, here, January 25 at 5:25 a.m. He had been in ill health for the past two years. Funeral services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. At the Philadelphia Church in Grundy County. Brother Binkley officiated, and burial was in the church cemetery. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tate, Albert Franklin Tate was born in Grundy County in November 1881. He was married to the former Miss Pearl King in 1901. She died August 4, 1955. Mr. Tate was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are six sons, Jasper, Paul and Lester Tate, Tarlton; Morton Tate, Fort Benning, Ga., and Roscoe and Edward Tate, Tarlton; four daughters, Mrs. W. L. Johnson, Augusta, Maine; Mrs. Joe B. Tate, McMinnville; Mrs. Sidney Walker, Beersheba, and

Mrs. Albert Rogers, Petersburg, Florida, and two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Tate and Mrs. Mary Tate, both of Kemberly, Idaho. Arrangements were by High Funeral Home.

[Note: The census taker wrote the last name as Delancy for all of the members, but this is definitely the Dolina family based on the names of the children, their ages and birthplaces. I'm still trying to figure out how Rhoda (Argie) became Paptolana. She was the one who gave the information. I'm wondering if she had a sense of humor and gave a made-up name to see if the person would put it down. I located the family by searching for Paul since he had been born in OK and the later children were born in McDowell Co. WV.

At times the family used the name Delancy. Regina Lauer, John's great granddaughter said their family pronounced the name Delaney which was close to the pronunciation of Delancy. Frank has 2 KY birth certificates, his first one with the name Franklin Delancy and the other several years later as Franklin Dolina. June used the name Delancy on her marriage certificate in 1943, but her sister Helen used Dolina on her marriage certificate in 1943. Both sisters were married in Norfolk, VA within a few months of each other. And to make things even more confusing, Rhoda is listed as Ruth on some records.

The Oklahoma branch of the family, the brother who adopted three of John's children after their death, pronounced the name "Doe-line-a", but Robert Dolina, told his children his father pronounced the name "Doe-lee-na."]

Stoker Tate, 25, shot and killed his wife, Frances Tate, 33, at their home today and then turned the .22 caliber rifle on himself and inflicted a fatal wound. Acting Coroner Henry Meyers returned a verdict of murder and suicide. Cause of Tate's action was not determined immediately. He had been a WPA worker in Grundy County, but had not been working lately. Deputies Jim McGovern and Oscar Price, and the coroner investigated. Five children survive the Tates. Funeral services will be held here tomorrow."

OBITUARY

WANAMAKER, Bessie "B.D." Tate - McMinnville resident and Grundy County, TN native Bessie "B.D." Tate Wanamaker, age 88, was born August 19, 1923 and died September 11, 2011 at River Park Hospital following a sudden illness.

A homemaker and member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Bessie Morton Tate, Sr. She was married to Conard Wanamaker who preceded her in death February 8, 1989. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bradley Matthew Wanamaker.

She is survived by eight children and their spouses, Iris and Herbert Walker, Sr., Mike and Joyce Wanamaker, Jim and Maxine Wanamaker, Ricky and Floressia Wanamaker, Johnny Wanamaker, David and Ella Wanamaker, Bill and Nelda Wanamaker and Donna and Ricky Simons all of McMinnville; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Mildred Tate of Cookeville, TN.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Philadelphia Cemetery in Grundy County, TN with Anthony Wanamaker and Jeff Hill officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at High's.

Former Anchorage resident Clarence C. "Scotty" Tate, 70, died of heart failure July 18 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. A funeral was held at Demaray's Gooding Chapel in Gooding, Idaho. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr. Tate was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Kimberly, Idaho, the son of Ernest and Lou Vernia Savage Tate.

He attended school in Kimberly and Gooding. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. After the war, he became a chef and worked at various restaurants on the West Coast and in Las Vegas as an executive chef. In 1965, he moved to Alaska, where he worked as an executive chef in Fairbanks, Juneau and Anchorage, for hospitals and government agencies. He later managed food service camps for the trans-Alaskan pipeline.

He married Phyllis Staats Hill in Reno, Nev., on Dec. 21, 1969. From 1977 to 1985, he served as president and business manager of the Culinary Union in Anchorage. In 1985, he returned to Gooding to retire and enjoy hunting and fishing. He was an active member of Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and Gooding Elks Lodge #1745, and held memberships in various culinary societies. During winter months, he enjoyed feeding bread to the ducks and geese in the Hagerman Valley and lived his life to the fullest, according to his family.

Mr. Tate is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Gooding; a son, Michael of Anchorage; two stepsons, Dennis Hill of Everett, Wash., and Hugh Hill of Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; a sister and brother-in-law, Eloise and Lum Edwards of Gooding; two brothers, Raymond of Sun City, Ariz., and Dennis and his wife, Blanche, of Missoula, Mont.; and five grandchildren, Melissa of Anchorage, and Jason, Justin, Eric and Kristi Hill of Fort Huachuca.

OBITUARY

William Turnbull, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in Tulsa at the age of 87. He was born September 15, 1927 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to John and Nellie (Tate) Turnbull.

William graduated from St. Michael's High School in Henryetta and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country during World War II. He worked for many years at American St. Gobain and later at Ramsey Chevrolet in the parts department. William was a Square Dance Caller for many years and had a great knowledge of sports. He moved to Haskell where he had resided for many years prior to returning to Okmulgee recently. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where over the years he had been very active in the parish. William was very proud of his Scottish heritage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lou Turnbull, three brothers, James, John and Alfred Turnbull and a sister, Dorothy Shaffer. Survivors include his children, Jeanette Taylor and husband Mike, Cynthia Turnbull and David Turnbull and wife Sue, all of Okmulgee, grandsons, Trey Turnbull and David Turnbull, both of Okmulgee and Brent Taylor of New York and a great grandchild, Stormy Turnbull. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Monday, June 22, 2015 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Josh Litwack officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

Alfred Wilson Turnbull, 84, of Claremore, Oklahoma passed away April 22, 2015 in Tulsa. He was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on January 26, 1931 to John and Nellie (Tate) Turnbull.

He is survived by his daughter: Vicky Moline; grandchildren, Aaron and Vanessa Moline; brother, William Turnbull and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Eva; his parents and siblings, John Turnbull, Jr., James Turnbull, Dorothy Shaffer and Hattie Turnbull.

A memorial mass will be held 11:00am, Saturday, May 2, 2015 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Owasso.

OBITUARY

Helen Jean Hunter of Sandyville, W.V., died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, W.V., following a long illness. She was 77.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. (ET) today at Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, W.V., with the Rev. Lawrence Conger Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery in Sandyville.

Mrs. Hunter was born Dec. 26, 1923, in Bryant, Okla., a daughter of the late John Wilburn and Rhoda Tate Dolina. She was a housewife and a Methodist.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Roy Hunter, and one son, Wayne Bryan Hunter.

She is survived by her son, Wilburn Ray Hunter of Sandyville; daughters Lois J. Wiles of Hyattsville, Md., Linda K. Riggs of Little Hocking, Ohio, and Darnell Hasty of Kenai; brothers Franklin, Donald, Paul, Jimmy, Pat and Mike Dolina; sisters June Ball, Sue Powers and Donna; 15 grandchildren, including James, Edward and Yvette Britton of Kenai; and 25 great-grandchildren.

June Faye Ball, 84, formerly of Crisfield, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Manokin Manor in Princess Anne where she had been a resident for several years.

Born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on November 14, 1928, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Rhoda Tate Dolina. She had been making her home in Crisfield since 1985. Her husband, George A. Ball, preceded her in death on September 8, 1998.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Crisfield Church of God.

She is survived by her siblings, Paul and Jimmy Dolina both of Riverdale, MD, Michael Dolina of Oklahoma, Sue Powers of West Virginia, and Donna Nichols of Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 12 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be held one hour prior. The Rev. Philip Morris will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

Because they lived in a coal miner?s house that had to be vacated thirty days after his father?s death, the family moved to an old shack that had no plumbing and an outdoor water well high in the mountains of Roderfield, W. Virginia. Because of the abject poverty and the health conditions of the children, Donna, Pat and Mike were adopted at the age of three and two months by their Uncle and Aunt, Robert and Ida Mae Dolina and brought to Tulsa to spend the rest of their childhood growing up in the historical Tracey Park addition. They brought to them the lifelong home in Tulsa.

Pat had a 39 year separation from his birth family, not knowing his natural mother, brothers and sisters. In 1989, by Divine Intervention, Donna, Pat, Mike and families traveled back to Welch, W. Virginia to the home of their oldest sister Bernice to meet all of their other brothers, sisters and family members. It was one of the highlights in Pat?s life other than the births of his two daughters.

Patrick Charles Dolina, 62 years old completed his earthly life on December 17, 2010 traveling instantly into the waiting arms of his Lord and Savior. Heavenly transformed, eternally young, healthy and with natural red hair, he donned his heavenly crown, to never look back on the ravages of suffering again.

How can you describe the life of a dynamic person like Pat in a few words? It can?t be done. He began life?s adventure on November 14, 1948 in #4 hollow in Premiere, West Virginia. He was originally named Jerry Lloyd which was changed to Pat after his adoption. He was the first twin born five minutes before his brother Mike. They were the thirteenth and fourteenth children born to John and Argie (Tate) Dolina. Pat's natural father was an electrician in the coal mines. Pat's father died of a massive heart attack at the early age of 43 leaving his mother who had no working skills to raise the remaining nine children left in the home.

Pat had a full and productive life in Tulsa being a member of the Order of the Demolays Delta chapter. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Horace Mann Jr. High and graduated with the Central High class of 1967. Pat loved sports and excelled in athletics. Wrestling and football was his game. Pat was baptized as a child, accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was a member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church. Pat was also a 32 degree Mason with Lodge 543 and a shriner.

Pat had a 39 year separation from his birth family, not knowing his natural mother, brothers and sisters. In 1989, by Divine Intervention, Donna, Pat, Mike and families traveled back to Welch, W. Virginia to the home of their oldest sister Bernice to meet all of their other brothers, sisters and family members. Pat and Beverly Morse were married for 11 years and two daughters, Dawn and Kimberly were blessed from this union and they later divorced. Pat later remarried Valerie Sandejo who had two young boys with no Father. Pat adopted Jay and Corey and raised them as his own and was called "Dad" very affectionately. Pat and Valerie also later divorced.

Pat served for 18 years in the military in the U.S. Army branch achieving the rank of Sgt. Pat served in the communications area of the service and was very intelligent to learn and decode Morse Code messages from our foreign enemies. After 18 years in the service Pat went to work as a machinist for John Crane working his way up to shop foreman for 17 years. Pat also taught machine shop and CNC programming at the Tulsa VO Tech. Pat also assisted in establishing Superior Gauge Svc in the late 1970's.

Until his health began to fail him, Pat was a very active, independent and always a strong willed but responsible man. He could always be counted on and had a wonderful work ethic. Pat loved to watch OU and especially OSU football, The Dallas Cowboys as well as other favorite teams. Pat's passion was fishing and he could be found numerous weekends at Grand Lake on his house boat or bass fishing in the coves with his brother Mike.

Pat's personality could best be described as sweet, stubborn, funny, loving and very generous to others!!! He would do anything for a friend or a relative. Pat is reunited with many loved ones. He is preceded in death by four sisters, Bernice Patsey of Welch, Helen Hunter of Sandyville, W. Virginia, Joan Tolnay of Premiere, W. Virginia, Bobbie Yvonne of Maryland, and two brothers, Donald of Hyattville, Maryland and John Robert, Maryland. Birth Parent, John and Argie Dolina, W. Left to remember his memories include his daughter Dawn and husband Stacy Cook of Owasso, and Kimberly Gill of San Antonio, Texas. Two sons, Corey and wife Andi Dolina and Jay Dolina, all of Houston, Texas. Three sisters, Donna Nickols and husband Charles of Claremore, Sue and husband Clarence Powers Jr. of War, W. Virginia and June Ball of Maryland. Four brothers including his fraternal twin, Mike and wife Linda of Tulsa and Franklin, Paul and Jimmy all of Maryland. Pat is survived with many nieces and nephews and cousins that he enjoyed visiting and being around.

A memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wed. December 22, 2010 at the Moore's Southlawn funeral home with Pat's earthly shell being cremated.
