Mrs. Manuel Yow received the following from James Wesley Yow (age 92 about 1971), who was a grandson of a Charles Wesley Yow, probably this same one:

Stockraiser. Civil War Pvt., Capt. Lewis Maverick Cal., Co. E Woods Reg. as Scout (29 Mar 1862) Enlisted Pleasenton, TX. Disappeared after war from Atacosa Co. (near Poteet, TX). Reappeared in Gonzales Co. TX around 1873 with another wife!
