McMINNVILLE, Tenn. -Services for James Phifer, 53, 4425 Westlawn Drive, Nashville, an official of the Nashville office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Renewal, will be at 3 p.m. today at High Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery.
Phifer, a native of Warren County, died Thursday in Veterans Hospital, Nashville, of cancer. He held the rank of captain and was assigned to the Army intelligence section in the headquarters of Gen. Douglas MacArthur during both World War II and the Korean war. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Edith Womack Phifer; a son, James R. Phifer, New York City; three daughters, Mrs. Deborah Norman, Houston; and Mrs. Albert Palmer Jr. and Mrs. David Pack, Smithville, Tenn.; his mother, Mrs. Mary Boyd Phifer, McMinnville and three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Brady and Mrs. Sue Brock, McMinnville, and Mrs. Virginia Patton
