BIOGRAPHY

Elizabeth was raised in Sequatchie County, Tennessee. She married Lloyd Lynn 8 Movember 1939. Since Lloyd was in the Army, she was a military wife and was with her husband and young son in Hawaii when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Soon thereafter she being with child and their son, Stuart, left for the states and spent the rest of the war in Tennessee with her and Lloyd's parants. After Lloyd retired from the Air Force, they lived in Atlanta where she was employed by Sears Roebuck and Co. in the mail order department. After Lloyd's death she continued to live in Atlanta near her sons until her death.

OBITUARY

Perus Alden Green (P.A.), Jr. born May 12, 1923 in Tatesville, TN died November 4, 2009 in Dunlap, TN.

He was preceded in death by wife Aleen Kennedy Green; parents Perus Alden Green, Sr. and Mary Blanche Minton Green; siblings: Robert Greene, Bruce Greene, Jesse (Peck) Green, Grace Green Frassrand, Howard Greene, Elizabeth Green Lynn, Joe Dillon Green, Berta Ruth Green Long, and two infant sons, Larry and Joseph.

P.A. is survived by daughter Linda Green (D.J.) Johnson, Dunlap, TN; grandchildren: Nate Johnson, Starkville, MS; Sara Grace Johnson (Brad) Carter, Nashville, TN; sisters: Johnnie Sue Morgan; Wanda June Henry, and nieces and nephews too numerous to list.

P.A. was born at home and educated in Grundy and Sequatchie counties in Tennessee. He entered Civilian Conservation Corps as a teenager and later served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army tank corps.

After receiving a medical discharge, he worked for a time in the military industry in Detroit, MI where he met and married Aleen Kennedy of Lawrenceville, GA. After frequent moves, the family settled in Atlanta where P.A. owned and operated several Standard/Chevron Oil service stations.

He was initiated, passed, and raised a Master Mason in E. A. Minor Lodge in Lithonia, GA and served as Past Master, various chairs, and ultimately Past Master and Director of Work. He was in the York Right and Knights Templar and served as a Rainbow adviser. He semi-retired in 1987 and returned with Aleen to the home for which he had always longed, Dunlap, TN. He surveyed part time with Gene Reed (at age 72), and retired completely in 1995.

In Dunlap, TN, P.A. immersed himself in civic organizations such as the VFW, American Legion, and Dunlap Lodge #693.

He was an avid gardener and watched the Braves with religious fervor. He was a member, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Dunlap First Baptist. He read to children at Griffith Elementary School, receiving the Hero of the Year award there in 2007. P.A. was a friend to all.

His generosity is legendary. He often befriended those who were less fortunate. In his later years he enjoyed his small Fredonia Mountain orchard and garden, Green Acres. He enjoyed passing on lessons in gardening, lessons in living and produce from the farm. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Services will be 10:00 am CST in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in Gwinnett Memorial Park, Atlanta, GA.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. EST Saturday November 7, 2009 at the Wages Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, GA.

Berta Ruth Long, 80, died on Tuesday morning, June 10, 2008, at her home.

She was a member of Flat Mountain Baptist Church, retired cook for the Dunlap Middle School and was preceded in death by her parents, Perus and Blanche Green; sister, Elizabeth Lynn; brother, Joe Dillon Minton.

She is survived by her husband, Kelly Long; daughter, Yvonne Long; son, Richard (Patti) Long, both of Chattanooga; two grandchildren, Morgan and Maddux Long; two sisters, Johnnie Sue Morgan and Wanda Henry; brother, P.A. Green, all of Dunlap; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tony Cates officiating. Burial will be in Rankin Cemetery.

OBITUARY

ROSS A. LYNN of Carrollton, passed away June 3, 2012. He was born September 5, 1942 to Lt. Colonel Lloyd L. Lynn and Elizabeth Green Lynn in Union City, Tennessee.

He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1960 to 1964 and was assigned to search and rescue vessels.

Ross attended Atlanta Christian College where he met Ruth Blair, his wife of 44 years. Later, he graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Ross also obtained his Professional Land Surveyor?s License for the State of Georgia and the State of Alabama.

Ross retired as Regional Vice President, Keck & Wood, Inc. after 38 years of service. He managed the Carrollton office from 1986 until his retirement and was named ?Employee of the Year? in 1991.

During memberships at First Christian Church of Mableton, Bethany Christian Church, and Millers Academy Christian Church, Ross held a number of leadership positions. They included Chairman of the Board of Elders and Deacons, Bible School Superintendant, and Director of Music. He taught Bible School classes for 31 years. Ross also served as Chairman of Java and Beyond Mission Board.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stuart L. Lynn.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth B. Lynn and son, Russell L. Lynn of Carrollton; two nieces, Alicia L. Meadows of Eatonton, Georgia and Jessica N. Lynn of Atlanta, Georgia; nephew, Stuart L. Lynn, Jr. of Holly Springs, Mississippi; aunts, Wanda G. Henry and Johnnie S. Morgan of Dunlap, Tennessee and a number of other relatives. Also surviving are special friends Dan Craven and David Boyd.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 4, 2012 from 5:00 ? 8:00 PM and the funeral will be on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Chapel with Minister William (Bill) Gray and Mr. Matthew B. Gray officiating. Music by Mark Barnes and Cheryl Childers. Pallbearers will be David Boyd, Dan Craven, Stuart Lynn, Jr., Kenny Chambers, Russell Shadrix, Doyal Shirey and Delmar Shoemake. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Moffitt, James Stanley, Allen Martin, Jerry Latimer and Eddie Williams.

Interment will be in the Bethany Christian Church Cemetery. Flowers are welcome but memorial contributions may be made to Tanner Hospice, PO Box 1136, Carrollton, Ga., 30112.
