Harry Dull Fox, 79, of the Decatur community at Rt. 1. Fairfield, died Monday in Staunton. He was born Aug. 7, 1900 in Rockbridge County, son of Ralph H. Fox and Lula J. Sweet Craig Fox.
Fox was a member of Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He was retired from the B&O Railroad. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Frances Fox on Feb. 15, 1966; two brother, June L. Fox and J. Franklin Craig and one sister Margaret Craig Cash.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lula F. Rice of Alexandria, Mrs. Rebecca F. Gowin of Springfield and Mrs. Betty Jo Bishop of Steeles Tavern; one son Harry M. Fox of Charlottesville; one brother Clarence Fox of Decatur; seven grandchildren. A service will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday at Fairfield Cemetery by Dr. Homer T. Cornish. The family will receive friends from 7-8 tonight at Harrison's Funeral Home in Lexington.

"GOWIN, Rebecca, (Becky), of Springfield, Virginia, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Virginia, of complications from a stroke on New Year's Eve.
Becky, who was born in Aqua, Virginia in 1930, graduated from Madison College (now James Madison University), Harrisonburg, Harrisonburg City, Virginia in 1950. Before retiring in the 1980's, she was employed in a variety of administrative positions for the Columbia Gas County, Virginia; the Central Intelligence Agency (both in Washington, D.C., and Ankara, Turkey); Melpar, Inc., Fairfax, Virginia; and George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia.
She accompanied her husband, Bob, a retired military officer originally from Cattaraugus, N. Y., on overseas tours in Turkey, Puerto Rico, and Havana, Cuba. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Charlestown Owners Association, Springfield, Virginia for the past 13 years. She also served as treasurer and membership chairperson for the Fairfield High School Alumni Association, Fairfield, Virginia since its first meeting seven years ago. She was an active participant in knitting and donating numerous baby afghans for Project Linus, a nonprofit organization dedicated to distributing handmade afghans, blankets, comforters and quilts to deserving children throughout the United States.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bob, of Springfield, Virginia; a daughter, Vicki McNulty of Lorton, Virginia; a brother, Harry Fox of Charlottesville, Charlottesville City, Virginia; two sisters, Lula Rice of Wytheville, Wythe County, Virginia, and Betty Jo Bishop of Raphine, Virginia.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations in her memory be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Friends may call on Sunday, January 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Demaine Springfield Annandale Chapel, Backlick and Edsall Roads, Springfield, Virginia. Services will be held on Monday, January 29, at 3 p.m. at Ft. Myer (Old Post) Chapel with interment to follow at Arlington National Cemetery.

Josephine E. "Betty Jo" (Fox) Bishop, 77, of 8234 N. Lee Highway passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville. She was the daughter of the late Harry D. Fox and Francis (Miller) Fox of Rockbridge County.
A graduate of Dunsmore Business College, Betty Jo was a pioneer entrepreneur for the female gender. She started her 36-year career in real estate in 1974. She established her own company, Bishop Realty, in 1979, which was one of the earliest women-owned brokerages in Augusta County.
Betty Jo was a member of the Greater Augusta Association of Realtors, in which she served in every officer's position and received numerous awards.
In 1993, she was the first woman elected to the board of directors with Bank of Rockbridge and later served on the advisory board of directors for One Valley Bank and BB&T.
She was a devoted Christian and member of Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church in Steeles Tavern for 48 years.
Surviving are her loving husband of 54 years, Stanley Eugene Bishop Sr.; two sons, Stanley Eugene Bishop Jr. of Mint Spring and William Stuart Bishop and his wife, Margaret, of Staunton; one grandson, Zachary C. Bishop; and a brother, Harry M. Fox and sister in-law, Elsie Fox.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lula Fox Rice and Rebecca Fox Gowin.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Dec. 18 at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church in Steeles Tavern.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Carmel Church or donations to Kingsway, 797 Spottswood Road, Steeles Tavern, VA 24476, (540) 377-5708.
