Gloria Vipperman Shuff
Gloria Vipperman Shuff, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Appalachian Regional Hospital after a long illness.
Born July 21, 1925, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Derb and Virgie Hager Vipperman. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Vipperman, and a sister, Betty Tindila.
Those left to treasure her memory are her husband of 52 years, Murray Shuff; her sister, Joyce Groseclose; nephews, Dennis Vipperman and Mark Groseclose; a niece, Patricia Crawford; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Whitener and her husband, Earl; sister-in-law, Mary Shuff of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.
Her first employment after graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School was at Grants department store. She entered the bookkeeping field and became office manager for Vipperman Construction Co. Murray and Gloria owned and operated Meadows Lumber Co. for 25 years.
She was a member of First Christian Church, where she was an active participant in the women's activities of the church.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She belonged to the Fayette and Raleigh County Genealogy Society and served as treasurer for a number of years. She was a member of several business and professional organizations, including the Quota Club and the Woman's Club.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with the Rev. Don Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may gather with the family 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
