THOMASVILLE Ruben Aurelius Duke, who taught refrigeration and air conditioning at Hopson State Vocational School, died Wednesday at his home. He was 83.
The Mobile native resided in Thomasville. He was a member of Springfield Methodist Protestant Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Gertrude Duke of Thomasville; two daughters, Sarah Josephine Maness of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Margaret Ann Duke of Grove Hill, Ala.; one son, Gary Michael Duke of Nashville, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Florence Andrews Carlisle of Grove Hill; three stepsons, Roy Edward Andrews of Lower Peach Tree, Ala., Perry Lee Andrews of Thomasville and John E. Knight of Durham, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services are set for 2 p.m. today at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, with burial in Kelley Cemetery.
