Notes |
- He is referred to as Richard Hardy of "Hounslow Beacon" in the 1665 Visitations of Yorkshire, written 28 Aug 1665 by the College of Arms in London who maintain genealogy records of all families of nobility. The book was in a volume printed in 1724.
Hounslow is a Borough of London, in the western part of the city, in the historic county of Middlesex, and the principal town is Hounslow. In Richard's time the town was an important staging post on the Bath Road, and later developed a reputation as the haunt of highwaymen and footpads.

The area in the town that may have been called Beacon likely has been taken over for Heathrow Airport as there is a Beacon Road next to the airport.
Hounslow Heath is a 200 acre nature reserve in the London Borough of Hounslow and shows what the area would have looked like during Richard's time before he left for Virginia.
