  Notes	Graduate of Princeton University, 1889. Went to Princeton Theological Seminary and 14 April 1892 was ordained as a Presbyterian minister. He served briefly in churches in Long Branch, New Jersey, and Harlem, New York City; and later became known as a prominent Presbyterian pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh, where he served for thirty years. In 1914 he was Moderator of the Presbyterian Church.
