- Lived in Poor Valley, Smyth Co. Poor Valley ends at the point where the Holston River flows east and then turn south to turn again more westward at Broadford. Little Tumbling is east of this area, while Big Tumbling emerges at the town of Saltville.
Moved to Washington County, Arkansas before 1860 There were children in this family, however unknown at this time. The children were mentioned in the will of Moses Whitaker, Sr. but not by name. [Note: There was another Moses Whitaker born in 1819, VA listed in Putnam County, Ill in the 1850 Putnam Co. Census. This was not Moses Whitaker, Jr. son of Moses Whitaker of Washington Co., VA.] This Moses Whitaker had a wife, Eliza, and son Aaron, age 1. Also living with this Moses was Joseph Whitaker, born VA, age 25. [1, 2]
