  Notes	Physician in Noxuber Mississippi in 1864. [1] CIVIL WAR SERVICE Served with the 19th Mississippi Infantry, Co. K. They were the Jake Thompson Guards raised in Itawamba and Tishomingo Counties. Dr. Kirk was on the list of those that surrendered at Appomattox. TOMBSTONE INSCRIPTION: Farewell my wife and children all, from you a father Christ doth call. Mourn not for me it is vain to call me to your sight again. Note: top is broken off
