He was born in Scott County, Va., Feb.14, 1908 to the late John Monroe and Ora Mae Pack Blair. He was a member of the Copper Creek Community Church. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Musick Blair; son, Robert Edd Blair; daughter, Almira Starnes; sisters, Carrie Quillen, Annie Musick and Sudie Mann and Virdie Tipton; brothers, John Blair Jr., Ray Blair and Clarence Blair; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Misty Eads. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Inez and Bobby Elliott, Gate City; three sons and special daughters-in-law, Ernest and Allie Blair, Gate City, Emerson Blair, Gate City, and Wallace and Betty Blair, Church Hill; three sisters, Evelyn Quillen, Thelma Mann and Alma Kinkead, all of Gate City; caregiver, Reba Flanary; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; special granddaughter, Morgan Elliott. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Clayton Williams and the Rev. Walker Darnell officiating. Music will be provided by Sally's Chapel Quartet and Carolyn Maddox. Military graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Strong Family Cemetery, Gate City, Va., conducted by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW. The family will meet at the cemetery for graveside services. Friends, nephews and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Peanut Lane and M.J. Mann will serve as honorary pallbearers.
