Parkins, in Newark, Del. She had lived at her son's residence for the last nine years. Mrs. Parkins, the widow of Capt. S. Parkins of Dickerson, Md., was born in Rockbridge County Aug. 31, 1886, the daughter of the late Ira Franklin Sterrett and Isabel MacKey Sterrett. Her late brother, John D. Sterrett, was prominent in local affairs. Before leaving Rockbridge in 1914, Mrs. Parkins was a member of Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church. She often returned to the area to visit friends and relatives. As a result of age and failing health she was unable to return to Lexington since a visit in 1972, when her grandsons John A. Parkins, Jr. and Thomas W. Parkins were graduated from Washington and Lee University School of Law and Virginia Military Institute respectively. She is survived by four sons, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Burial was beside her late husband in Arlington National Cemetery. The services, which included a military honor guard were attended by Mr. and Mrs. John D. Sterrett, Jr. of Williamsburg and J. Robert Sterrett of Hampton, both recently of Lexington.
