OBITUARY

LEBANON ? Alfred Browning (Oppy) Dickenson Jr., 67, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Russell County Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born in Russell County, Va., he was the son of the late Alfred Browning Dickenson Sr. and Margaret Tate Dickenson. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School and attended Emory & Henry College and East Tennessee State University.
In Alfred?s early years, he had been affiliated with radio broadcast journalism in Richlands, Bristol and Juneau, Alaska. Alfred had pursued agricultural work and was a landlord of leases in Lebanon. He was a lifelong member of Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church. His paternal grandparents, G.H. and Rebecca Browning Dickenson, and maternal grandparents, John and Ada Jessee Tate, also
preceded him in death.
Alfred was survived by numerous cousins of both families.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry McReynolds,
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at 4 p.m. at the Tate family plot in West Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, with Rev. Michael Carter and former Pastor Donald Nation of Tazewell, Va. officiating. Honorary pallbearers
will be Almerine Jackson, Billy Dean Fields, Billy Honaker, Ron Barrett, George Thomas and Steven Shortt. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Owens Funeral Service, Lebanon, is in charge of arrangements.
