Mrs. Violetta Rice Anneker
May 30, 1933 -- Violetta Rice, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Westfall Rice, was born on February 18, 1868, in Copley township, Knox county, and passed away at Knoxville, May 26, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 8 days.
She grew to womanhood in Persifer township and was married to William Anneker in 1897. Mr. Anneker passed away in 1927. The greater part of her married life was spent in Gilson.
Mrs. Anneker is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Leroy Rawlings of Chicago, and William, Jr., also of Chicago. The eldest son, Clarence, 19 years of age, passed away at Bridgewater, Neb., thirteen years ago.
She leaves also three brothers, Harvey M. Rice of Galesburg, George of Persifer and Edward W. of Williamstown, Mo.; also two sisters, Mrs. Lavina Lutcavish of Laramie, Wyo., and Mrs. Anna Anderson of Lisco, Neb.
Funeral services were conducted from the Gilson Community church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. M.R. Stanton officiated. The song service was rendered by Mrs. Reese Pickrel and Mrs. Dick McDonald, with Mrs. Claude McCoy as accompanist at the piano. The selections, "The Old Rugged Cross," "Where He Leads Me I Will Follow" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," were used. The casket bearers were Sanford Moore, Ernest Reynolds, C.W. Mills and John Patton. Interment was in the family lot in the Gilson cemetery.
