      Zohn Solomon Milam
      September 2, 1924 - January 14, 2011

      Zohn Milam, 86, passed away Friday, January 14, 2011 at his home in Graham. Funeral services are scheduled Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Eastside Church of Christ with Dorman Holub, minister, Larry Pratt of Eliasville, and Dick Stovall of Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

      Mr. Milam was born September 2, 1924 in Eliasville, Texas to the late E.B. "Kid" and Ethel (Whitmire) Milam. Zohn grew up in Eliasville and attended SMU in Dallas where he played football and ran track for the Mustangs. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was involved in the liberation of Dachau, Germany in 1945. Zohn was stationed at Fort Ord, California during the Korean War where he was appointed to organize a football team which later was known as the Fort Ord Warriors. He married Jerrye Campbell March 5, 1958 in Eliasville. He returned to Graham and began a teaching and coaching career in the Graham and Eliasville schools. He was principal of Graham Jr. High School and Graham High School before retiring in 1986. Zohn served on the GISD school board from 1989 to 1995 and was named Citizen of Year in 2005 by the Graham Chamber of Commerce. After retirement from GISD he was a probation officer for Young County and continued to farm and ranch in the Eliasville area.

      Survivors include; wife, Jerrye Milam of Graham; daughter, Pam Stroud and husband Jay of Irving; son, Kyle Milam and wife Rhnea of Graham; sister, Charlotte Hutcheson and husband George of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, Kayla and Jerid Morgan, Kurt Milam, Kara and Clint Felts, and Chris and Michelle Duke; two great grandchildren, Cade and Landry Duke; also surviving former son-in-law Owen Duke.
