She was born in Kingsport and attended Dobyns-Bennett High School. Mrs. Yonce was a homemaker and owner of Discount Foods in Jonesborough. She was a member of First Christian Church. Her husband, James L. Yonce Jr., parents, C.A. Whitaker Sr. and Lexie H. Whitaker, sister, Gaynell Jankey; and two brothers, C.A. Whitaker Jr. and Donald Whitaker, preceded her in death. Surviving are her daughters, Diana Parnell and husband, Phil, Marty Southerland and husband, Roger, son, James Lloyd Yonce III and wife, Lora, all of Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren, Kim Chandler and husband, Don, Chris Lunsford and wife, Amy, Alex Yonce, and Andy Southerland; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Blakely Chandler, Haddie and Elsie Lunsford; sister, Edith W. May and husband, Bedford, Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 5-7:00 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Kingsport, TN. Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church with Phil Scott, Minister officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
