Whitt, Sr., 78, of Akron, passed away April 27, 2004. Roy was employed by Consolidated Freightway for 33 years and was a member of the Teamsters Local 24. Roy will always be remembered for taking great pride in his work and for his independence. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and was very involved in the lives of his family members. His easygoing personality will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and daughter, Robin Flaker. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; sons, Sandy (Elizabeth), David (Hester), and Roy Jr.; daughter, Malinda Waller; brother, Tom; sister, Edith Hypes; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Susie. Friends and family may call tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
