Born in Danvers on July 16, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Myrtle (Hartman) Ferris. She was a graduate of Danvers High School and attended Leland Powers School of Radio, Theatre and Television in Boston. Barbara was an accomplished accordionist and pianist and performed with her musical family, including her sister June (Ferris) Wood. She was employed at Sylvania earlier in her life and later she worked at Danvers State Hospital for over 20 years. In addition to her sister, Barbara is survived by her loving life partner Roy Condon; by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Mary Luz of Salem, her four daughters and two-sons-in-law, Linda and Steven Luz-Alterman of Lexington, Marianna Luz of Shelburne Falls, Laura Luz of San Rafael, CA and Lydia Luz and Michael Williams of Houston, TX, nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Barbaras family will receive friends and family on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 6 to8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. There are no other services. Memorial donations may be made in Barbaras name to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923 or to a charity of your choice.
