Born December 29, 1923, in Richlands, VA, she was the daughter of the late Doak R. Lowe and Sally (Gillespie) Lowe and the wife of the late James Benjamin "J.B." Russell. A member of Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church since 1951, she was a member of the Young at Heart and assisted in delivering for Mobile Meals. Survivors include a son, Danny E. Russell and his wife Gayle of Spartanburg; a daughter, Sherry Williams and her husband Mike of Knoxville, TN; four grandchildren, Rex Russell and his wife Alane, Jay Russell and his wife Patsy, all of Spartanburg, Ben Williams of Brooklyn, NY, and Jamie Williams of St. Petersburg, FL; four great-grandchildren, Coleman, Anna, Sophia, and Olivia; and four sisters, Ruth Winko, Sadie Fox, Hazel West, all of Richlands, VA, and Catherine Wilson of Kinston, NC. Visitation was 1:00-1:45 PM Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services followed at 2:00 PM at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. William B. Farley and the Rev. Dr. Hank Williams. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials could be made to SRMC Hospice Special Needs Fund, 120 Heywood Avenue, Suite 300, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
