  Notes	Excerpt from the Tate Families of Southern States, Volume II, Laura Metzel and Ethel Speer Updike, 1984 Son of Jaziel B. or Jahaziel and Sarah A. Tate. In 1850, the lived in Grundy County with three boys with the Dykes family, Andrew, age 18; John S., age 16; and James, age 13. I am sure they were brothers and probably living with their Dyke grandparents. His father Jahaziel Tate who lost his wife and on October 18, 1839 married a new bride. The family lived in Grundy County, Tn for some time but in 1880, were residents of Kaufman County, TX, living next door to his half brother Martin Van Buren Tate and family. In fact, Martin Van Buren Tate's daughter Elizabeth Ellen married her cousin William (Bill) Martin Tate. His father, Jahaziel Tate mentioned his sons, Jackson Tate, John S. Tate and M. V. B. Tate, dated June 22, 1880, Kaufman County, TX, descendants mentioned that there was first wife and children.
