The Will of Thomas Davenport

19 March 1777 proved 27 Nov 1780 further proved 23 Jul 1781

Thomas Davenport of Cumberland Co: Lands in Cumberland Co. to be sold and all just debts to be paid and when my Mortgage to Gabell is paid that he transfer all my effects mentioned in the mortgage Back as my estate and be Recorded in the same Court where the mortgage is; all my Debts due me be collected as soon as possible.

To Daughter Ann Woodson that part of land on upper side Myre Creek in Halifax Co.; my negro woman Sarah and her daughter Molley and all their increase, also negro man Sambo.

To son Thomas Davenport that part of land on Dan River on lower side of Myre Creek in Halifax Co. , my negroes Barraca , Dick , Simon, Fatanny and her child Jack and all her increase.

To wife Lucy Davenport, land in Halifax Co., containing 300 acres known by the name of Samsons Place also Negroes Suffolk , Else , Lelt , Ned and Aggy and all their increase to her and to her own Disposal for ever.

To grand daughter Lucy Woodson my negro girl Ailee. To Grandson Joseph Woodson , negro boy Billy .

Surplus money from sale of lands and Debts due me to be collected, and all household and kitchen furniture and stocks of all kinds to be equally Divided between my wife Lucy Davenport, my daughter Ann Woodson and my son Thomas Davenport , my wife's part to her and her Disposal and my children's part to each of them.
