Thomas A. Lowe, 86, of the Middle Creek section of Cedar Bluff, died July 20 in a Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born in Cedar Bluff, he was the son of the late Mose and Vicie Lowe, both Cedar Bluff natives. He had made his home in the Cedar Bluff area all of his life and was a retired
mechanic from CONSOL having worked there for 44 years. He had attended grade school on College Hill in Cedar Bluff and was an elder and deacon at the Cedar Bluff Presbyterian
Church. He had also attended the Middle Creek Advent Christian Church. He was a member of the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge #260 AF & AM and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a member of UMWA Local #6640 Amonate.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
two sisters, Mary Johnson and Margaret Mullins, and
two brothers, Everett and Wayne Lowe.

Survivors: wife, Lillie B. Lowe; daughters, Shirley
Childress and husband, Jim, of Cedar Bluff, Nancy C. Burke and husband, Charlie, of Perry, OH; son, Franklin Eugene Lowe of Cedar Bluff; sister, Virginia Johnson of Baltimore, MD; brother, Buford Lowe of Baltimore; grandchildren, Michael Bell, Jr., Richard Bell, Shane Bell, Brian Burke,
Scotty Burke, and Gina Lynn Lowe; great grandchildren,
Jasmine Bell, Shay Bell, Savannah Bell, Shawn Bell, Jamie Ray Burke, Jordan Ashley Burke, and Marcus Ross; great great grandchild, Hunter Kennedy; and granddaughter-in-law, Judy Sutherland and husband, Pat.

The funeral was conducted July 22 at 4 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Eddie Nash and Rev. Guy Hunt, Jr. officiating. Entombment followed at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill.

Members of the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge #26 AF & AM conducted a Masonic service July 21 at 3 p.m.

Lillie Belle Lowe, age 86, of the Middle Creek section of Cedar Bluff, Va., passed away Friday, April 23, 2010 at her home. She was born in the Whittaker Ridge section of Bandy, Va., and was the daughter of the late Hobart McKinley and Fannie Belle Crockett Whittaker.

She was a member of the Cedar Bluff Presbyterian Church and the Lebanon Presbyterian Church and was a lifetime resident of the Cedar Bluff area.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Damron and Sissie Burton; four brothers, Grat, Raymond, Dock and Thomas "Buddy" Whittaker.

Those who survive her are her daughters, Shirley Childress and husband Jim of Cedar Bluff, Va., Nancy C. Burke and husband Charlie of Peery, Ohio; son, Eugene Franklin Lowe of Cedar Bluff, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Shirley Puckett and husband Don of Claypool Hill, Va., Mrs. Lucille Steele and husband Ray of Valls Creek, W.Va., Mrs. Frankie Miller of Pulaski, Va.; grandchildren, Scottie Burke, Brian Burke, Michael Bell, Shane Bell, Richard Bell and Jeanie Ross; great-grandchildren, Jamie Ray Burke, Jordan Ashley Burke, Jasmine Lynn Bell, Shay Bell, Savannah Bell, Shawn Michael Bell, and Marcus Allen Ross; great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Ryan Kennedy, Cannon DeWayne Bell and Colton Wade, Thomas Hunley; also, special close family members, Judy and Paul Sutherland, Cedar Bluff, Va.

Graveside services will be held at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010 with the Reverend Eddie Nash and the Reverend Guy Hunt, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Legacy Hospice in Richlands, Va. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside services at the mausoleum. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home of Richlands, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
