Jack Gent Kegley Jack Gent Kegley, 80, of Elkton, MD passed away at home on Friday, June 13, 2014 surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer. Born in Cleveland, VA on January 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Kyle and Marie McGlothlin Kegley.

A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Kegley had been a supervisor at Chrysler Corporation, Newark, DE for 30 years. His hobbies included coin collecting, gardening, carpentry and working in his yard. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three precious grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janice Belle O'Quinn Kegley; daughters, Jackie Lesiuk and husband Michael, Elkton, MD and Carla Tischa and husband, John, Rising Sun, MD; grandchildren, Dustin Lesiuk, Kelsey McFalls and Jamie McFalls and fiancé, Kody Gilbert; step-grandchildren, Tori and Ryan Tischa; siblings Annette Arva, Radcliff, KY and Stanley Kegley, Elkton, MD and numerous nieces and nephews, including his loyal and loving nephew, Garry Arva.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Kegley was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie, Con and Donald Kegley and a sister, Eva Sue Coleman. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton where visitation will begin at 6 p.m.

Her parents name are Cook on the marriage record and on the 1910 Census. But on the 1860, 1880 and 1900 Censuses her father's last name is Hart. On his death certificate, her father is listed as Isaac V. Cook with his parents being William Cook and Julia Hart. Perhaps his parents weren't married. Julia Hart is listed as Julia A. Cook in the 1850 Census in the household of Isaac Hart and as Julia Hart in the 1860 and 1870 censuses along with her son, Isaac Hart. She married Joseph Smith in 1875 and is listed as Julia Smith in the 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 Census. On her death certificate, her parents as listed as Issac Hart and Celia Combs. It seems Edna's family used Hart and Cook as their last names.
