OBITUARY

Mr.Reginald "Reggie" Keither Blevins, Jr. age 68 of Critz, Virginia passed away at his home on Saturday morning. He was born in Richlands, VA on November 15, 1944 to the late Roy Keither Blevins and Pauline " Peachy" Lockhart Blevins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blevins was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney "Chip" Blevins. Reggie was a 1963 graduate of Tazwell High School and received his degree in education form Aurora University in Chicago, IL. He served his country as a proud Marine during the Vietnam War. Reggie retired from Stuart Elementary School after 30 years in education during which he had served as head basketball coach at Richlands and was dedicated to his students. He was a life long Cubs fan who loved hunting, fishing, antiquing and music. Reggie above all was a devoted and loving; husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and friend.

Mr. Blevins is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Margaret Looney Blevins of the home; a daughter, Elizabeth Jennings Blevins of Surf City, NC; a son, Reginald "Keith" Keither Belvins, III of Patrick Springs,VA , a step-son, Jason Matthew Pruett & wife, Tara of Ridgeway, VA; two step-daughters, Brittany Paige Morrison & husband, Adam of Stokesdale, NC and Bethany Pruett of Critz, VA; three grandchildren: Colby Keithon Blevins, Kylei Paige Blevins and Michael Gage Blevins; three sisters, Marrietta Helmandollar of Tazwell, VA, Marcella Blevins, Claudville and Debbie Crigger & husband, Don of Tazwell, VA; a brother, Michael Blevins & wife, Lisa of Dobson, NC and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Blevins will be held on Monday September 2, 2013 at 11:00 am at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bucky Hunsicker officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Stuart Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers; donations may be made to the Ravenol Oncology Center, 320 Hospital Drive, Martinsville VA 24112

Mrs. Louise Jennings, 50, of Rt. 1, North Tazewell, died Friday evening in Bluefield Sanitarium. She was the wife of Wade H. Jennings and a daughter of the late George and Daisy Burress.

Survivors in addition to her husband include one son, Louie Wade Jennings; two daughters, Pamela Sue and Betty Louise Jennings; two brothers Vernon Burress of Marietta, Ohio, Lloyd Burress, of Portsmouth; and one sister Mrs. Virginia Whitman of North Tazewell. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Riverside Methodist church. Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery.

OBITUARY

George W. Burress, 65 years of age, died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wade Jennings at Adria. He had been in declining health for several years.

He was the son of the late William and Sarah Pack Burress, of Pounding Mill. He had been a resident of North Tazewell for about fifty years. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Daisy Arnold, two daughters and three sons: Mrs. Jennings, Mrs. James Whitman, of North Tazewell; Paul and Lloyd, of Norfolk, and Vernon, of Whiteville, W. Va. A sister also survives, Mrs. Laura Vann, of Huntington WV.

Funeral services were held from the Christian church Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. C.B. Dickenson, of Crumpler, WV., and the Rev. M. E. N. Lindsay in charge.

Mrs. Daisy Burroughs

Funeral services for Mrs. Daisy Burroughs, 75, whose death occurred unexpectedly on Sunday while visiting her son Lloyd Burroughs in Portsmouth, Va., whose wife was at the bedside of her mother in a Bluefield Hospital, were conducted at 2:30 pm on Wednesday in the North Tazewell Methodist Church by the Rev. Ray F. Harris, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. Lee Hill. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, in Tazewell.

Survivors are two sons, Lloyd Burroughs and Vernon Burroughs, Parkersburg, WV. two daughters, Mrs. J. P. Whitman and Mrs. Wade Jennings both of North Tazewell. Her husband George W. Burroughs to whom she married in 1909, preceded her in death in 1948, and a son Paul in '51. She also leaves three brothers, R.L and Jack Arnold of Portsmouth, Va. and Fred L. Arnold of Roanoke, Va., eight grand children and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Burroughs was a native of Saltville and came to North Tazewell while a teenage girl. She was well known locally having been a practical nurse whose services took her to many community homes.
