OBITUARY

Mabel Lorene Williams, 76, of Ashland, died Thursday January 21, 2010, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

She was born March 17, 1933, in Boyd County, the daughter of the late George and Mary Click McCalvin.

Her loving husband of 54 years, Glen Williams, survives.

She was a charter member of Grandview Church of God, and was a member of the Traveleers and sang in churches and on the radio for many years. She had worked at the Cinderella Dress Factory and was a devoted homemaker and caregiver.

She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur McCalvin, and two infant brothers, three sisters, Blanche Salyers, Emalena Roberts and Evelyn Ingles.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Dana G. (Johnda) Williams of Ashland, and Kevin D. (Debra) Williams of Columbia, SC., four brothers, Mitchell McCalvin, Delbert McCalvin, Albert McCalvin and Glen McCalvin, and three sisters, Katherine Perfater, Judy Hutchinson and Edie Workman, four grandchildren, Dean Williams, Libby Williams, Carlie Williams and Calista Williams, and two step-grandchildren, Cody Pennington and Colten Bryant.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel, by the Revs. Fred Workman and Albert McCalvin. Entombment will be in Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
