OBITUARY

Clifton Wallace Blair, 80, of Kingsport, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the residence of his daughter. He was born May 29, 1935 in Gate City, VA to the late Robert Lee and Georgia Musick Blair.

Wallace was a kind, fun loving and hard working man who loved his family more than his own life. He was a steadfast husband, father, papaw and friend. His children will cherish his memory and hold him in their hearts forever. A simple man, Wallace?s favorite food was biscuits and gravy.

He was a man of faith who enjoyed singing, laughter and fellowshipping with his family and church family. Wallace was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church but was presently attending Grace Point Fellowship. He was also a member of the Teamster?s Union.

Wallace retired from Holliston Mills following forty-five years of service as a machinist.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Betty Lou Russell Blair; son-in-law, Bobby Head; brothers, Ed Blair and Emerson Blair; sister, Elmari Starnes.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:30 pm Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Oak Hill Funeral & Cremation Services. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:30 pm in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.

A Graveside Service will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park in the Garden of Sermon On The Mount.

Serving as pallbearers, Mickey Sykes, Ralph Dorton, Jeremy Dorton, Brian Sykes, Randy Hammond and Steven Linkous.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Preston Place II Alzheimers Resource Center, 2303 North John B. Dennis Highway, Kingsport, TN 37660. Attention, Sharon Durnin.

OBITUARY

Betty Lou Russell Blair, 77, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord, early Thursday morning, April 17, 2014, at Preston Place II after a brief illness.

She was born in Randleman, N.C., she was a former resident of Church Hill and had lived in Kingsport for the past two years. Betty retired from Higher Ground Baptist Church where she was a devoted member. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Words cannot express the love, care and kindness shown us by the staff and residents of Preston Place Community, Betty and Wallace's home over the past year. Also a special thank you to Caris Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Thelma Huddleston Russell; and a sister, Mary Ruth Shelton.

Surviving are her loving husband of 59 years, Clifton Wallace Blair; children, Clifton Wallace "Wally" Blair, Jr., Cindy Dorton and husband Ralph "Buzz," Penny Sykes and husband, Mickey, Becky Head and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Brian Sykes and wife, Jennifer, Jeremy Dorton and wife, Lynn, Amanda Sykes and Lily Head; great granddaughters, Haley Godsey and Miranda Sykes; brothers, Jimmy Russell and wife, Lois and Frank Russell; sisters, Dot Jackson, Ann Hagy and husband, Sam, Carolyn Hammond and husband, Raymond, Maxine Surgenor and husband, Steve and Irene Anderson and husband, Wayne; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who loving called her Aunt Betty.

The family will receive friends from 4 ? 7 pm Friday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home 520 Watauga St., Kingsport.

A funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Phil Hoskins and Pastor Tommy Shuler officiating. Music will be provided by Tommy and Sherry Shuler and Ashley Pierce and Tina Horne.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am Saturday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brian Allen Sykes, Jeremy Dorton, Scott Anderson, Mike Shelton, Mark Hammond, Steven Linkous, Randy Gregg and Randy Hammond. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home to go to the cemetery in a procession.

OBITUARY


GATE CITY, Va. - Robert Lee Blair, 95, entered into rest Sunday (Sept. 21, 2003) at his residence.
He was born in Scott County, Va., Feb.14, 1908 to the late John Monroe and Ora Mae Pack Blair. He was a member of the Copper Creek Community Church.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Musick Blair; son, Robert Edd Blair; daughter, Almira Starnes; sisters, Carrie Quillen, Annie Musick and Sudie Mann and Virdie Tipton; brothers, John Blair Jr., Ray Blair and Clarence Blair; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Misty Eads.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Inez and Bobby Elliott, Gate City; three sons and special daughters-in-law, Ernest and Allie Blair, Gate City, Emerson Blair, Gate City, and Wallace and Betty Blair, Church Hill; three sisters, Evelyn Quillen, Thelma Mann and Alma Kinkead, all of Gate City; caregiver, Reba Flanary; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; special granddaughter, Morgan Elliott.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gate City Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Clayton Williams and the Rev. Walker Darnell officiating.
Music will be provided by Sally's Chapel Quartet and Carolyn Maddox.

Military graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Strong Family Cemetery, Gate City, Va., conducted by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW. The family will meet at the cemetery for graveside services. Friends, nephews and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Peanut Lane and M.J. Mann will serve as honorary pallbearers.
