OBITUARY

John Green DeHart Jr. of Lexington died Monday, July 20,2009.

His wife of 60 years, Ruth Marie DeHart, died June 9, 2009, and a joint service will be conducted this Saturday, Aug. 29, at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Sebby Volpe.

He was born on July 11, 1927, in Anawalt, W.Va., the son of John Green DeHart and Roxie Irene Hale.

He was preceded in death by one grandson.

He is survived by a brother, Albert Leon DeHart of Lynchburg; two daughters, Brenda DeHart Srb and Camellia DeHart Pierce; one grandson; and four great-grand­children

He began his railroad career in Narrows in 1942 at the Virginian Railroad Powerhouse.

After working for the Norfolk and Western Railroad and Amtrak, he retired from the CSX Corp. in 1985 and lived in the Kerrs Creek area.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Benjamin Borden Health Center Garden Fund.
