Phyllis Jean Stepp, 70, of 618 Third Ave., died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, in her home after an extended illness. Graveside services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oak Hill Cemetery, Coralville. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lensing's Oak Hill Chapel, Coralville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Iowa City Hospice Inc. or American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Stepp was born July 2, 1929, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of George Joseph and Margaret Ann O'Donnell Dohrer. She graduated from Iowa City High School in 1947. Phyllis married Robert Stepp on Dec. 15, 1952, in Kahoka, Mo. They had lived in Coralville since 1956. She and her husband Bob had owned and operated Trade Specialties Inc. in Coralville since 1972. She also had worked part time for ACT and the Coralville municipal swimming pool.

Her family includes her husband, Robert; four sons, James Stepp and wife Catherine Staub of Des Moines, David and wife Kathryn Stepp of North Liberty, Richard Stepp and Robert D. Stepp, both of Coralville; three daughters, Diane and husband Don Carter of North Liberty, Carole Stepp and husband William Orner of Mountain View, Calif., and Linda and husband Salim Safsaf of North Liberty; 10 grandchildren, Rob, Trisha, Jeremy, Josh, Bethany, Emma, Josef, Sabrina, Karima and Sara; a sister, Marlene Humble of Iowa City; and two brothers, George and wife Cam Dohrer of Iowa City and Robert and wife Jackie Dohrer of Encinitas, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William Dohrer ; and a sister, Carol Emerson.
