POWHATAN, Va. ? Thomas Jackson "Tom" Christian, age 75, of Powhatan, Va., formerly of Tazewell, Va., died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at Elizabeth Adam Crump Manor in Richmond, Va. Born May 1, 1937 at Amonate, Va., he was a son of the late Keyser and Margaret Eugenia Howery Christian.

He enjoyed farming throughout his working years. His greatest pride was in his children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Christian and one brother, Edward Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Grindstaff Christian; three sons, Thomas Jackson Christian Jr. and wife, Karen of Amelia, Va., Edward Allen Christian and wife, Barbara of Manassas, Va., and James Keyser Christian III and wife, Monica of Winchester, Va.; two daughters, Cynthia Paige Christian of Chesterfield, Va., and Debra Ann Myers and husband, Robert of Powhatan, Va.; three brothers, Jim Christian of Florida, Bob Christian and Walt Christian both of Tazewell, Va.; two sisters, Shirley Utke of St. Martin, Calif. and Dana Bandy of Aberdeen, Md.; 12 grandchildren, Cara Christian, Thomas Jackson Christian II, David Watson Christian, Makenna Christian, Nathan Christian, Grace Christian, Jamie Christian, Samantha Owens, Casey Wood, Robert Myers Jr., Ben Myers, and Charley Myers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with the Reverend Kenny Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Christian II, David Christian, Thomas Christian Jr., Edward Christian, James Christian, and Robert Myers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012.
