OBITUARY

Mary Frances Taylor McClung, 91, of Lexington, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007. Mrs. McClung was born March 11, 1916 in Rockbridge County, and was a daughter of the late Carl Hammond Taylor and Carey Campbell Taylor.

In addition to her parents, she was pre­ceded in death by her husband, David Brainard McClung; sister-in-law, Senora McClung Bogert and a niece,Ann Henry Sherman.

She also furthered her edu­cation by graduating from James Madison University and the State Teachers College. She went on from there and taught at the Meriwether Lewis School in Ivy, Va. and Rivermont School in Covington, Va. She retired after teaching for the Lexington School System at Highland Belle and Central.

She was a member of the Lexington Prebyterian Church, the Rockbridge Business and Professional Women's Club and the Virginia and Rockbridge County Retired Teacher's Organizations.

Mrs. McClung is sur­vived by several nephews and nieces, Wilson and Daria McClung, of Midland, Texas; Lloyd and Nancy McClung, of Cary, N.C.; Ed Sherman of Christiansburg, Va.; Carolyn and Jim Smoak, of Ridgeway, SC; Milton and Mary Edgar Hendren, of Roanoke, Va; Bob and Melinda Bornschein, of Palm City, Fla; Robert and Ann Harper, of Springfield,Va; Cres and Nancy Abreo, of Milpitns, Calif; Sam and Yolanda Martin, of Cape Cod, Mass; and a special friend, Mary Higgins of Lexington. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Dr. William Klein officiat­ing. Burial followed in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.
