OBITUARY

Willis Walter Holloway, 96, of Selma, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at Warren Manor Nursing Home in Selma.
Mr. Holloway was born Nov. 16, 1913 in Fulton. He was a former owner of a wholesale grocery, was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army in the Aleutian Islands during World War II where he received the bronze star. Mr. Holloway was offered a contract by the St. Louis Cardinals to play major league baseball as a pitcher.
Graveside service was held with full military honors at Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24.
Mr. Holloway is survived by one son, Willis W. Holloway Jr. of Mobile; and two grandchildren, Clara Jean Licastro of Minot, N.D. and Sarah Kay Bartz of Durhan, N.C.; and one great-grandchild, Evan Joseph Licastro of Minot, N.D.
Mr. Holloway was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Eloise Holloway.
O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.
