OBITUARY

Alpha Mae Handy, age 99, of Stuart, died Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at her home.

She was born in Greensboro, N.C., on November 26, 1910 and was a daughter of the late Walter G. and Virginia Pulliam Marshall. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Ray Handy; a brother, George Marshall; and three sisters, Willie Smith, Addie Haymore and Myrtle Weaver.

She had retired from J.P. Stevens, and was the mother of Abiding Grace Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. J.R. Vipperman officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Schoolfield Cemetery in Danville.

The family will receive friends tonight (Wednesday) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.

Alpha married Lonnie Ray Handy. Lonnie (son of Martin Lewis Handy and Sarah Catherine Vipperman) was born 02 Jul 1909, Floyd Co. VA; died 13 Mar 1995, Stuart, Patrick Co. VA; was buried , Schoolfield Cemetery, Danville, VA. [Group Sheet]
