HELEN M. WHITAKER
Helen M. Whitaker, 82, of Cedar Bluff, died Feb. 14 in a Bristol, TN, nursing home following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Portsmouth, OH, and was a daughter of the late Charles William and Georgianna Marsh McBrayer, both Ohio natives.
She was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area and was
former owner of Whitaker's Market in Cedar Bluff. She was a 1932 graduate of Richlands High School and was a member of
the Richlands First Christian Church. She was a member of the VFW Post 9640 Ladies Auxiliary of Richlands.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
one son, James (Jim) Whitaker; four sisters, Mary Campbell,
Maude Ringstaff, Etta Mae McBrayer and Isabelle Cruise; and two brothers, Ralph and James McBrayer. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors: husband, J. B. Whitaker of Bristol, TN;
daughter, Mrs. Branch (Frances) McGlothlin of Cedar Bluff; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Hilda Whitaker of Savannah, GA; daughter-in-law, Roselma Whitaker of Dublin; nine grand children; and nine great-grand children.
The funeral was conducted Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-
Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Samuel Altizer
officiating. Interment followed in the Hankins Cemetery in Richlands.

HEART ATTACK FATAL TO PROMINENT RAILROADER
Charles W. McBrayer, age 68, prominent Richlands resident succumbed to a heart attack in his automobile in front of the First Methodist Church on Sunday evening while waiting on his daughter.
Mr. McBrayer was born in Coalton, Ohio, the son of the late James R. and Rebecca Eisnaugle. He was educated in the schools of Coalton and was employed by the N & W Railway for a period of 40 years. He moved to Richlands in 1922 as a railroad yard foreman and remained as such until he retired in 1950. He was a member of the Richlands Town
Council in 1943-44 and a former Kiwanian. His wife, the former Georgianna Marsh, died in 1941.
He is survived by two sons, James of Minot, N. D., Ralph of Williamson, W. Va., and four daughters, Mrs. Mary Stinson,
Mrs. Maude Ringstaff, both of Richlands, Mrs. Helen Whittaker, of Cedar Bluff, and Mrs. Isabel Cruise of Union, W. Va. He is also survived by one brother, John of Roseville, Ohio and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Perissis of
Zanesville, Ohio.
Funeral service were held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 in the First Christian Church with the Rev. J. W. Johnson in charge
of the service assisted by Rev. C. E. Wilson. Interment was in the Hankins Cemetery. The remains were removed from the
Farmer Funeral Home to the residence of the deceased on Monday afternoon. Pallbearers were Cleaster Hari, Bill Forrest, Claude Helton, G. W. Hagy, Charlie Ascue, and Thurman Spence.

DEATH CLAIMS MRS. C. W. MCBRAYER
Funeral rites were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian Church for Mrs. Georganna Marsh McBrayer, wife of Charles William McBrayer, who died January 6th. Although she had been an invalid for the past ten years
because of a heart ailment she became seriously ill and confined to bed only two weeks ago.
The pastor, Mr.(Rev.) John Dunn and Rev. H. B. Abshire, of the Methodist Church were the officiating ministers. Arrangements were directed by the Farmer Funeral Home.
Mr. and Mrs. McBrayer and their family came to Richlands from Portsmouth, Ohio, 18 years ago. During her residence here the deceased has been active in church work. Despite her invalidism during the past ten years she has continued to widen her circle of devoted friends.
Surviving are her husband and their seven children, Ralph,
McBrayer, of Iaeger, W. Va., James McBrayer, of Minot, N. D., Mrs. Jay Stinson, Mrs. Fred Cruise, of Richlands, Mrs.
Maude Ringstaff, of Pounding Mill, Miss Etta Mae McBrayer, of Wellston, Ohio, and Mrs. Helen Whitaker, of Cedar Bluff.
Surviving also, are ten grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Thurman Spence, Henry Childress, Freddy Tizen, Paul Harris, Dr. Castillo, John Parsons, P. S. Elswick, and Bill Forrest. Flower bearers were the ladies of her neighborhood.
Out of town relatives and friends who came to pay homage to Mrs. McBrayer were Mr. and Mrs. R. O. McBrayer, Alex Meines, and Mrs. Laura Bromfield, of Iaeger, W. Va., Mr. and Mrs. Albert Neurot, of Portsmouth, Mrs. S. P. Cruise and Mrs. S. H. Otkins, of Union, W. Va., Messrs. John Shelton, John [illegible], and T. L. Brown of Bluefield.
