Obituary for Hettie Woodward: Mrs. Hettie Stallard Woodward, 76 died Friday, April 14, 1989 in the Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, VA. She was a native of Washington County, Virginia and attended Fletcher's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was the widow of Edward C. Woodward. Hettie was also survived by two brothers, John Stallard, Meadowview, VA and Dave Stallard, Clifton, TX.

Chess and his family lived in Carswell Hollow, outside of Kimball, WVA. Chess worked in the mines. Joye Boardman's grandmother, Floy Callahan Henderson, who was a cousin to both Chess and Lula helped take care of the two boys.
Newspaper Obituary for Chess F. Woodward of near Saltville, died Thursday night at home following a lingering illness. He was a prominent farmer of Washington Co.VA and a member of the Methodist Church. Survived by wife, Lucy and children, 1 brother, Rev. George W. Woodward, Plasterco and one sister, Mrs. M. A. McCray, Meadowview, VA. Services were held Sunday, Oct 17, 1946, with the Rev. Roy Poston officiating.
